Well, the "Rob the Casbah" leg of the Swing Rehab Tour ended today with a blistering 75.

T20, and over par for the weekend - pretty much fits his MO.

I think this was pretty close to 100% of his capabilities now.

He looks so much less athletic and intimidating than big Alvaro.

At his worst, Tiger finishes in the top 20. How do you guys figure that he's DONE? He's already shown us that he doesn't have to be in Tiger-Beast-2000 mode to win majors, and his goal is not to return to that version of himself. I say he needs a year or so to get his head and game together. He shouldn't try to reinvent himself as some silly grinned Phil clone. He's a Tiger, not a pussy cat: intimidate, ignore, and own your competition.

Tiger come see me! I have something much stronger than the military hypnotist taught you.

Just because Tiger is chasing Jack's 18 majors,it doesn't mean he has to behave like him.

Tiger is more like a Walter Hagen, not a Jack Nicklaus.Hagen played better after a night of drinking and womanising.Ok,perhaps no drinks for Tiger but you get what I mean wink wink.

"All my feels are gone when the wind blows" - Tiger

Not hating, just one more indication of a swing junkie. Range is fine but when you have to play or hit shots, windy, sidehill lies etc, it just doesnt work.

This is regardless of method. How many times can you re-invent yourself and learn the entire game over again. How much of this time will take away from his short game practice?

It seems like Tiger is more interested in the legacy of "owning his swing" than he is in winning the most majors. Or, at the very least, he's preoccupied with it...

Agree Kevin, there is something to be said for "playing the game". I have two friends from my home town that play golf for a living. One rarely and I mean very rarely hit a range ball. He would putt and chip around the practice green a little and then he would play golf. He played a lot of golf, lots of times he would play at least 18 holes and regularly played 36 holes. Always had a little money on the line when he was playing. He has shot 59, made it to the 3rd stage of Q-School, won a Hooters event or two, has had some Nationwide status, etc...he is not afraid to go low and often does.

Now lets talk about my other friend...loves to practice, hits tons of range balls, chips and putts for hours, doesn't play near as much golf on the golf course. He has had some lower level mini tour wins, but can't seem to take it to the next level. Has a harder time taking it low, dare I say afraid of really low numbers.

I was the same as friend #2, huge practicer...didn't play near enough golf or in enough golf tournaments because I was constantly trying to seek perfection or near perfection before I decided to play golf and play in bigger tournaments. When I tried to make a living playing golf that mentality and routine absolutely did not work! I was too busy hitting balls on the range and working on the perfect positions. Ok great Jon, what does all this mean to me? Know yourself, know "your swing," play enough golf that you are more comfortable when you shoot a lower number. Learn how to get it in the hole. Stop worrying about what things look like so much and learn how to get it around the course in fewer shots than your competitors. Do you think Tommy "two gloves" Gainey owns a video camera to look at his swing or do you think he just plays a ton of golf and puts himself in positions to learn from in the future?

Another reason this forum is the best... Up until I read this post, I thought time travel was impossible. But SM is clearly writing this from the year 2000. Self, while you're there, put a grand for me on the Lakers beating the Pacers 4 games to 2 in the NBA finals.

Maybe 10 years ago him finishing T20 was his worst, but this is 2011, and a top 20 is hardly his worst. His worst is walking off the course during a round. Then his next worse would be chopping it up and not sniffing the cut. His next after that would be finishing 18 over in a "no cut" 80 man field. By his recent standards, T20 is a pretty good showing... but nothing close to his worse.

10 more things you may find interesting since you've been gone...

1. Enjoy watching him in 2000 - it's his peak.
2. He hasn't won on his home course (Augusta) since '05.
3. He's closing in on 3 years since his last major win.
4. He's learned how to choke them away in the last 2 years.
5. He's started his 3rd swing make over in the last year.
6. He's lost his putting prowess in the last year.
7. Come to find out, he's not that good of a driver off the course either.
8. He's no longer #1 in the world.
9. He's no longer #2 in the world.
10. Ochoa quits the game.

See a trend anywhere?

Great post John thanks!!

#2 did not work for me either! Some people have it intrinsically, others have to work for explicit information. I have seen several intrinsic types lose their games because they did not have a workable understanding of the feel v. real deal. The extrinsics (if they find the right info) have their best golf ahed them...as long as they don't need walkers to get around!

Every player needs a concept or two that is (rooted in reality) upon which their game can pivot. I think D-plane is such a concept. I happened upon the D-plane after a conversation with a friend that is a high world ranking amateur (that played professionally all over the world.) We were discussiong his short game prowess (stuff of legend) and he gave me a tip that went something like "I always feel like my club head is moving left...quickly...past impact" He was not impressed with the "both arms straight...out to right field deal I had going. I googled "swinging left" and found this site and the D-plane.

After sharing my new found explicit knowledge with the same top notch players. He paused...nodded his head and said "Yeah, I can go with that." He also had aimpoint v. apex worked out 15 years ago. I hate these people. :D

While you are trying to groove a move you forget to notice the ball flight and what it can teach you.

D-plane + NH2 = no more snappers and more golf in 2011.

I think he has 14 majors, not bad for a guy interested in "owning his swing", i think he wanted that from before he got on tour and all of a sudden it's a problem, let's see he's 5 majors short of passing Jack, who else on the PGA tour still competing is next in majors? and how many do they have? It's a career long goal, not a sprint and there's going to be hard times along the way.

Time will tell if he wins more Majors and if he quit today he will still be second on a pretty exclusive and impressive list of Major winners and he did it trying to "own his swing" and getting rid of 1 bad swing from 1 bad instructor, that might take some time.

I was a great Tiger Woods fan - love to see the Arnie charges, the domination, the bigger than life persona - the putts falling on the last hole for the win - fun to watch!

Did it bother me that he fooled around? - No - not my life - that's his problem. However, the two things that really did bother me was the lies, the lack of openess, "I have no problems - Oh I'm pulling out my neck has hurt me for 3 months" - Combined with a cocky rude arrogance.

So, I don't really care if the guy wins another golf tournament the rest of his life.
