Sergio.

I love Sergio.

Putting is something that can hold anyone back. Ever hear of Stan Stopa?

He hit plenty of good shots, but at the end of the day, he missed too many putts, and he got beat.

He'll win a major, and then probably a few.

I am with Ray and Ian on this one.

"What about the Ryder Cup? Why does he play so much better in that?"

I was always a better team player in real events, than I was "playing for myself.

I have won several team events as a golfer, but zero individual ones.

Here is my list of all the totally different "Golf's":

  1. Playing alone
  2. Playing with friends
  3. Playing with enemies
  4. Playing with combinations of the two
  5. Playing in a qualifier for an event
  6. Playing in a qualifier for a level of event you have never played in
  7. Playing in a team event at stroke play
  8. Playing in a team event at match play
  9. Playing at the Junior tournament level
  10. Playing at the Amatuer tournament level
  11. Playing at the Club tournament level
  12. Playing at the College Golf level
  13. Playing at the Mini-Tour level
  14. Playing at the Hooter's tour level
  15. Playing at the Nationwide level
  16. Playing at the Foreign Tour level
  17. Playing at the Euro Tour level
  18. Playing at the PGA Tour level with no status
  19. Playing at the PGA Tour level with status
  20. Playing at the PGA Tour level with millions in the bank
  21. Playing at the PGA Tour level in Match Play Event
  22. Playing at the Senior Tour Level
  23. Playing in a Senior Major
  24. Playing in a World Championship of Golf tournament at Stroke play
  25. Playing in a World Championship of Golf tournament at Match play
  26. Playing in a Major on a "easy" course like St. Andrews with no wind or Augusta, Pre-Tigerproofed
  27. Playing in a Major on a "hard" course like Bethpage Black or Oakmont
  28. Playing in a Major when you have never won one
  29. Playing in a Major with Tiger in the last group on Sunday
  30. Playing in a money game

Weather

I think Sergio was unlucky in that the weather softened the greens and allowed players to attack the pins as demonstrated by Harrington's and Romero's birdie barrages. It's all the same in the end, but with drier conditions Sergio's game plan was perfect. I guess it would of been hard to know that starting out the last day, and real difficult to change his game plan on the course.

Sergio's putt to win on 18 was right on line, it just didn't drop. He had a birdie in the playoff that didn't drop either. It happens.

He will win a major, I was impressed with his fight back on the final nine Sunday. He could have disappeared, but came back and should have won but for a putt that looked perfect and in.

He missed a lot of putts on Sunday. I think it's as simple as that. Mentally he's fine, on everything but putting. It's not like his long game breaksdown because he doesn't believe he should win or some bs like that. He just isn't a good putter. The belly putter helped him a lot, got him the lead. But the thing isn't magic, he still had problems.

Stricker also had an absolutely horrible putting day sunday. He could've have won too. On consecutive holes on the fronnt nine he had a 2 footer for birdie, missed it, a one footer for birdie, made it, and a three footer for birdie, missed it. And then he missed basically every putt for the rest of the day after that and was dejected.

Meanwhile Harrington and the Argentinian guy were dropping 20 footers like they were gimmies. Must have made 5 of them each.
