Ok,
I tried what you guys suggested, and it definitly added more lag to my swing. That being said, I managed to throw away the extra lag just as effectively . Whoops!
I did also try some 3/4 ish swings (almost full swings) but at a reduced speed and I could hit the ball while maintaining my lag better. The feeling I had was almost taking my hands from up by my shoulder (on the backswing) to down in front of me by the means of a straight line. This sounds like it would make me come over the top, but it didn't. It did allow me to hold my lag on my quickest swings yet, which was pretty nice. Still no dice on the full swings, but I think I'm going to get there, especially with the help you guys are giving me.
I agree that it is something with my hips. I notice on full swing that after impact they have a very jerky movement to them as if they were being pulled up and toward the target by the rest of my body (hard to explain). On my shorter swings though, my hips are much smoother and just rotate out of the way. I think I should probably work on some drills to help my hip movement (maybe the feet together drill, or the rear foot back drill). What do you guys think?
