Working on the Fade

Well, Ringer says one thing and Kevin says that Ringer is incorrect.
Then Ringer makes, essentially, the same statement again.

Given that Kevin owns a Trackman, and is Manzella trained, I think
I will go with him.

I'm not the only one making the statement..

Right around the 4:30 mark.

I think Ringer is correct. My take is that Kevin is talking about hitting a straight shot to a target and Ringer is
referring to fading a shot.

I'm no D-Plane expert, at all, but I can tell you that I have known this for many decades. In my language, a wedge goes straighter than a 4 iron because the wedge has more backspin.

For a given variance between the Face and Path IN THE HORIZONTAL DIRECTION, there will be more curvature with less loft (DL) because the D-plane is more tilted.

In other words, with a wedge, you might have 3 degrees difference, let's say, between Club Path and Club Face (both HORIZONTAL Trackman definitions) but the True Face with the wedge is WAY UP IN THE AIR. Thus, it's "hard" to tilt the D-plane with a higher loft.

I think that was the essence of Ringer's point.

Correct. Ringer didnt originally said swing more left of the face for a fade. He just said more left without clarifying exactly what he meant. Sure, its harder to tilt the D plane with more loft.

Ummm.. yes I did.

Because it's what the D-Plane dictates. If you want the ball to curve you have to swing more left or more right of the clubface for higher lofted clubs.

In addition, the more lofted clubs need you to swing MORE to the left.

Excuse the hell out of me because I didn't say something EXACTLY the way you want me to. Lay the F off people. I'm trying to HELP people, not prove anyone wrong.... unlike apparently half this board.
