19 year old amateur shoots 60 at the Travelers!!

This kid is going to be a monster. Low am at the U.S.Open. All American in the NCAA as a freshman.

Now the question? If he wins, does he turn pro? How hard would it be to walk away from a million dollars and stay in college?

He could turn pro, stay in school and play his 15 events. Pretty silly to turn down millions just to play on the college team. I would've dropped out of school to caddie for him.

Can't wait to tune into "The Morning Drive" on Monday and hear the guys tell us if the McIllroy era is over and the Cantlay era has begun.

I don't think it's stupid if he stays in school. I also don't think it's stupid when a football player or basketball player leaves school early. I don't find anything stupid about staying to get a degree. And golf is a bit different...theoretically in golf if you're good enough to win at 19 years old you should be good enough to win at 22 years old. In basketball and football the injury rate is about 1000 times higher than it is in golf and is such a real thing. You can tear your miniscus in your knee which usually isn't much to worry about injury wise and it can cost a basketball or football player millions in the draft. We really don't have that in golf. To me, Cantlay should figure out and decide what's best for him and what he would making him happy.

I agree that golf is a different animal. Golf is also a little different because you're also not guaranteed multi-year million dollar contracts as in other sports (endorsement money aside). I'm sure there have been several but I can't recall a teenager who did very well on the PGA tour earning wise (tourney winnings - travel expenses).
