I am very very very slow on this one.....HELP!
1)How would you describe wrist cock?
What is Brian's action called in "never slice again" where he bends his right wrist "back towards the right forearm"? Is that wrist cock?
The right wrist bends back onto itself at the start of the take-away or Take-UP. Imagine the pulling up of a lawn mower cord. The bend in the right wrist, and the fold of the right elbow will COCK the left wrist over the right shoulder. You now have one straight left wrist (TGM term ---> left wrist is vertical, flat and level VFL -trust me and Homer on this) while the right wrist is bent (TGM term ---> vertical, bent and level VBL). There is no cocking of the right wrist- that is why it is termed level. I won't get into the vertical term, lets save that one for now, it just is for the time being.
Okay, left straight, right bent. Drill, imagine a club in hand, grip the left thumb as if it is a shaft with the right hand, at address,
PULL the left thumb up over the right forearm. The right elbow folded, the right wrist bent level back on to itself and the left wrist cocked. The PULL is extensor action (6-b-1-d)
This is the basic right arm take-away, it is also the flying wedges, which is a straight left and a bent right and the fouindation of all good in a swing. Give it a try.
