Wrist Cock

Can someone please explain to me how the left wrist is supposed to cock? I would like to know what the left wrist has physically got to do.

Thanks

Left wrist moves in a vertical motion (up/down)
Right wrist moves in a horizonal motion (left/right)

Both arms can rotate to some degree however the wrist movements don't change.

jim:
do i deliberately try to uncock the left wrist into the downswing, or will it just happen? i tend to leave it alone and have the pivot work in the downswing, but at times i feel i don't get the club low enough to the ball or ground to take the divot afterwards. perhaps i should try to uncock?

Keeping the hands from strangling the club will allow your wrists to do what they need to do. No need to try to hinge or unhinge.
EXCEPT: at the preimpact position, I like to delay the right wrist from unhinging too early so I try to maintain the angle late into the impact.
This is just something I have trained my hand to do as part of my swing so I don't really think about it much.
