When I was working with DT at the Zurich this spring, Jon Hardesty called me and I went into a port-a-john to use my phone.

Jon asked, "How's David hitting it?"

I replied, "Pretty Good, this Y.E. Yang (who was playing with him) ain't no joke."

Ever since, it has been "THE saying."

If you say something Ain't No Joke, the other guy—or you—says: Y.E.Yang.

And vice-versa.

I knew the guy had a LOT of game, and told everyone so last week at the DC School.

Y.E. Yang — Ain't No Joke

Did you guys hear Tiger at the press conference yesterday? I just wonder if he is a little delusional about his golf swing. Don't get me wrong, Tiger is amazing, but that super weak grip ala Hogan and excess hand rolling seems to make his less precise on a lot of his shots. I think he hit the ball OK but not great like he did back in 2000. It just seems like the TV analysts are reluctant to say anything about negative about his swing (remember Nick Faldo at the British a few years back?). Am I way off here?

YE Yang one of many groups I followed during the practive rnd WEDs with KJ Chio. Seemed to have a solid game. Did I expect him to win, no, but who did?!!!

I like the shaft on the inside of the ball, might have to try that.

and won yesterday wearing Le Coq Sportif gear (including belt buckle....made famous in the 80s on the "tennis court"...Yannick Noah anyone?), popping Tiger's G2 gatorade up the back nine, and waving to the crowd and cameras.

damn right he ain't no joke.

Very impressive the way he maintained his composure. Unlike many, he didn't succumb to the mania that surrounds Tiger, or the pressure of competing against him. Good to see.

Anyone else notice how much Tiger tried to stay visible to Yang and in front of him and in his indirect line of sight on the greens? Definitely some gamesmanship going on there. I might have asked Tiger to move once or twice if I were Yang.

What alarmed me was reading somewhere (it may have been here) that Tiger believed he just 'timed it well' back pre-Haney. Tiger has surreal talent, but nobody times it that well unless they have some solid mechanics backing it up.

Like I said, he was more conservative off the tee than a militia in South Dakota on Sunday. I thought he hit his irons pretty well, but it's tough when you're having about 170-185 yards into most of the approaches and either having a longer iron into the green or having to horse a short iron into the green. Once he saw that Yang wasn't going away, he started to go with the driver and lost his accuracy. He got away with some wayward shots with the driver due to some lucky breaks.

I really feel it's a lot of stubborness with Tiger. I strongly feel he really doesn't like Butch Harmon and doesn't want to show that his ballstriking and overall game was better with Butch. If he ever dumps Haney, it's going to take a really good salesman to convince him that Haney has hurt his swing and also come up with a swing that is better, but not a similar method to what Harmon teaches. That's where I think knowledgeable golf swing fans get it wrong...sure, they probably could improve Tiger's ballstriking with their 'fixes', but I think it is probably much much tougher to convince Tiger than they could ever imagine.

Kostis needs a trackman

Both he and Faldo kept saying "Can you believe how much left he swings" Also, one or the other mentioned that a lot of players now seem to be swinging left a lot more than the old days.

Kostis had an answer, but I refused to listen and let it poison my brain.

didn't Kostis say something to the effect that Yang's early head rotation toward the target in the downswing (a la Sorenstam) dictates that he swing more left? I believe that's what I heard.

Hard to believe some of TW club selctions on the back 9 - I believe twice he hit a 7 iron form 155 range over the back of the green. His 80% 9 iron is probably 155. WTF?
