Yesterday, I was in the weight room discussing golf with several friends. A 19 year old kid introduced himself into the conversation curious about some of the more exciting golfing destinations in the area. He played high school golf and currently collegiate level golf. He plans to compete in the local tournaments as his schooling will allow.
I turned the conversation with the focal point on his game and style. While making an almost correct assumption, I asked if he was part of the young guns who smacks the driver 300+ regularly and distances his PW at 150. His answer was yes to the drives, but 145 with PW.
And what is it you do to accomlish this?
Right here, in the weight room.
What about technique? What one thought gives you your power?
keep your head back
where are your alignments at impact?
I try to feel a straight line from the inside of the left shoulder, thru the flat left wrist, the shaft, and to the ball. My shoulders are parallel to the target line and my arms are straight at impact.
OK. Straight arms at impact?
yes
straight line and shoulders parallel?
yes
Are you taking lessons?
yes, a couple times a year
