Whew!......
All this is giving me a headache....
I always thought it was better not to think about the ball at all (paralysis)...
I thought the objective was to make a good swing and the ball just gets in the way.....and you adjust everything to the flight of the ball....
KISS.........
What happens when you swing outside/in about 10* with a 5* open face with that "good swing" and "just let the ball get in the way?"
Obviously that is an extreme example, but even some low handicappers think they have a "good swing" but in reality it's just highly compensated because they did something similar to what you are suggesting.
