Now knowing the truth...how much of the inside-aft quadrant DO we hit?

Whew!......
All this is giving me a headache....
I always thought it was better not to think about the ball at all (paralysis)...:)

I thought the objective was to make a good swing and the ball just gets in the way.....and you adjust everything to the flight of the ball....
KISS.........

What happens when you swing outside/in about 10* with a 5* open face with that "good swing" and "just let the ball get in the way?"

Obviously that is an extreme example, but even some low handicappers think they have a "good swing" but in reality it's just highly compensated because they did something similar to what you are suggesting.

The result is obvious...but after a few the same you adjust to the ball flight, i.e. hit more inside, but that doesn't mean you have to focus on a particular dimple, or indeed on the ball at all...

Jim, set up a shot like this, using three balls (viewed as you look down on it)

O

O --------------about 3 feet------------------O (A)

A is the ball you are hitting, the dotted line is your target line. The other two ball are your goal posts (about 6-8 inches apart)....
Try and score a goal.....

If that doesn't do it you can put a couple of balls BEHIND your ball as so:

O

O ------------------O (A)----------------O

O
Now you aim to drop your clubhead over ball X on the downswing...

puttmad...you are missing my point.

when the person i describe decides to change his ball flight, they will most certainly change something that really isn't causing their current ballflight problem thus compounding the issue.

you are assuming the golfer is going to know the proper thing to fix.

Ah, perhaps we are talking about different golfers...:)
