OK folks,

Here is your chance to have your "pet" topics or questions be considered for the agenda at the Symposium.

I'll start:

Any mechanical advantage to upright vs. flat backswings, how should they be classified, and do either have anything to do with creating more or less "angular momentum."??

Does science have anything to say about what makes a swing inherently repeatable or consistent? Is there a scientific basis for differentiating "orthodox" moves from "compensatory" moves? Or does practice make permanent?

And another one

Is there any such thing as a genuine "one way miss" swing? And does working the ball double the width of the fairway?

Clubhead Rotation approaching impact

2 swings, both clubfaces square at impact...

Advantages of a clubhead approaching impact with less rotation than another swing with a more open pre-impact clubface with fiercer amount of rotation coming in, attempting to square up.

What provides the more optimal ball flight with the driver ?, a swing that crosses the line at the top of the swing, or one that is laid off? Why?

Is there really any way to fit for the proper shaft flex. Does flex make a real difference in distance for irons / woods? Or did Kosten have it right when he offered only 1 choice? (ZZ Lite Stiff). Is it more feel than a real difference. Can high speed video help in making the correct shaft flex selection (Casio).

Optimum length for Driver shaft for low handicap vs high handicap.

Does Static Measurements for fitting really matter?

How Axis tilt should vary from club to club for optimal impact conditions (Wedge to Driver)

How much does axis tilt affect: Impact weight location, Ball compression, Approach angle (Horizontally & Vertically)

Optimal Stance width...should it vary for Driver to Wedge?

I could go on but I will save some for Scottsdale!

What amount of body rotation would a golfer finish with if optimum pivot braking occurred during the swing, and would it vary based on the club used?

Is there any such thing as a genuine "one way miss" swing? And does working the ball double the width of the fairway?

Similarly,

Does a swing that produces "zeros" lead to smaller misses than a player whom always draws or fades the ball with a 3/1.5 path/face relationship?

Have their been any studies done on tour pros' kinetic sequencing for the putting stroke? Is there a similar pattern amongst them?

1. What are the main muscles involved in the start-up?
2. What muscles are primarily involved in the transistion and what exercises can we do to strengthen them?
3. Does the clubface really close down faster if the golfer's weight is more on his right side through the impact cycle?
4. Are there alignments of the various elements involved in the downswing (hips, shoulders, left arm, and clubshaft) relative to the target line/ horizantal swing plane which facilitate "zeroing out"? And if so, what are they?

Does "angular momentum" actually translate to higher swing speeds?

What is the most accurate way to visually determine where someone's weight is at the setup?

If a swing were to be geometrically sound, should the butt end of the club be pointing at the target when the club has reached parallel with the ground at the finish? What is the importance of this point?

Is the term "centrifugal force" accurate?

Can the concept of "throwing" the club at the target be relevant to good mechanics in the regular golf swing?

How does the weighting of a clubface effect the opening and closing of the clubface relative to the plane?

Perhaps the butt end of the club should be parallel to the desired horizontal plane line, not necessarily the target?

Has the pressure on PP#3 been measured during the swing (graph of pressure vs time)? Is steady pressure on PP#3 through the down swing the preferred method? "Swing" vs "hit" differences @ PP#3? Is "throwaway" real?

I hope there is some sort of "recording" of the answers. There is just simply going to be sooooo much stuff gone over.

Blades vs Cavity backs .
If desperate for topics (well you won't be I guess :D ) physical advantages of golfers... e.g :-
Skinny, tall, long arms vs short, low centre of gravity, short arms. Advantages \ disadvantages of each.

Yeah I like this, ask what would the anthropometrics be of the "ideal" golfer.

Gravity vs Muscular Force -

Advantages / Disadvantages of using either gravity (loose / limp / dead arms) or muscular force to effect the "DROP".

Similarly,

Does a swing that produces "zeros" lead to smaller misses than a player whom always draws or fades the ball with a 3/1.5 path/face relationship?

Do players hcps reflect their ability to repeat their key five trackman stats consistently?

Do players fall into any particular groups in their ability to be consistent for certain trackman stats (path consistent but face inconsistent for example) ??

Should players choose zero out option rather than consistent shape option only if they have shown ability to achieve consistent path and/or face?

Which is less destructive if you go for zeros - face inconsistency or path inconsistency....same for MJ's fade??

What are the ramifications of soft grip pressure versus firm grip pressure versus deathgrip pressure for the swing pattern? Is there an optimum for a given pattern??

Gear effect - does the clubface rotation through impact interval from an off-centre hit alter ball flight significantly - irons versus driver / blade versus cavity back / what forces and alignments are involved in imparting spin versus altering "true face" at seperation in OFF-CENTRE hits? At same time sort out the hinge action once and for all please.

Is it possible (or advisable) to try to retain shaft flex to and through impact (like the ABS- Advanced ball Striking - people)?? If not possible...are there advantages in trying to do this?? They seem to be part of the heavy hit crew. Mandrin might know more - he hangs out there too.

Can the panel explain the Iomic grip claims for less clubface rotation for off centre hits with their sticky grip? Grip end forces influence impact conditions (similar to heavy hit)

Do/would Iomic grips reduce gear effect if fitted to driver??

Agenda needs to be well planned to avoid meandering thoughts... my questions show how easy it is to wander off topic!!

Would like to attend but flight times and work get in the way....would be cutting it too fine!
