Athletic Golf vs. Powder-Puff Golf?

The players who make a living playing golf have been, are, and will always be small to average sized. Golf does not attract the "best" athletes because there is no advantage to being bigger, stronger, faster standing over a stationary ball or stroking a putt. The idea that the Kobe/Labron type athletes will eventually populate the Tour's is silly to me.

Top golf is ultimately about a certain high level of precision. If a better athlete can add to that raw power, then he will always have an advantage. But more often then not, it will be a trade-off. As much as there is to learn from Sadlowski's movements, he doesn't play golf for a living.:)

I think you could not be more correct!

Golf might be the most expensive sport you could possibly take up.

Not going to be able to get the kids who play soccer and basketball in the street to start playing golf.

I see that as the biggest factor in this whole thing.

Faldo has only a few more majors than the posters on this board. For a few years he was absolutely amazing in terms of controlling his ball. Then he tried to get longer off the tee and it went downhill. I think we all have an inner clock or whatever that governs our swing tempo and speed somewhat. Try making Nick Price swing like Els. Just my 2 cents.
Is this a Joke? Of all players whose career has started in the past 35 years, only one has more majors than Faldo. That is impressive. To downplay 6 majors is silly.

If you add to that the fact that he is the record points scorer in Ryder Cup history, through the 80's and 90s when the Ryder cup was very competitive, its a phenomenal achievement. Also he could have won more majors- he lost the playoff in the 88 US Open, and missed a putt in the 90 US Open to get in a playoff (BTW he hit driver once all week), the 1993 Open where he led by 1 going into the final round and shot 67 and still lost.

Yes it was a joke. Sarcasm does not come across well in typing. I thought the "only a few more majors" part would give it away.

What's equally amazing is that a 59 only gets you a 1 shot lead.:eek:

Both guys are certainly ballistically challenged...

Goydos = 105.5 mph SS
Stricker = 110.19 mph SS

I will let you know how easy that course is when I play it in three weeks.
I am fairly sure I will get to 59 at some point during the day.

Ha, good stuff EOF. It would be interesting to hear from you how it goes and what kind of prospective it gives you on the 59.

If I had the power I would strip Faldo of his 6 majors for bunting the ball around.It is obsene and an insult to our sport that a man 6'4",200lbs and 5% body fat can be that short off the tee and unathletic.

5% bodyfat lmfao closer to 15 in reality. He was a national level swimmer and cross country runner as a junior, certainly not unathletic.

Take a friend...

Someone may need to be there to pull a precisely unathletic Brit off you - whaaat!:D
