I played both golf and tennis in high school. I never had anyone associated with tennis tell me to intentionally miss hit a tennis shot.

That's fine. But in golf on some shots you do intentionally mishit shots around / on the green. On a down hill putt you may want to hit it off the toe. One method of chipping has you holding the club very vertical with the heel off the ground and hit the ball more off the toe. You can also intentionally blade a wedge etc., etc... If that doesn't apply in tennis that's OK with me.

Like I said I was just commenting on what I saw.

The purposeful miss is definitely a technique in golf. In tennis I was usually just trying to make contact on the racket where ever I could and had many non-purposeful misses.

Absolutely. The ball is moving, you're moving... you aim to hit the center and live with the off centers. If the best in the world still frame it while trying to hit the center, imagine how many out right whiffs there'd be if they tried to hit the edges initially.

No correlation at all to golf in this respect. If you want to toe a putt, you get to putt ball in hand, line it up where you want, take a few practice strokes, take your time, think about how pretty the sky is that day, and take comfort in knowing that if you don't pull it off the ball is not coming back FAST at your forehead. :)

In a high school tournament once I played the number 1 player in the state in a singles match. Looked and played like Sampras, I looked and played like Daly. Got hit in the jewels once and right in the chest at the net twice. I was pretty much done with tennis after that, I had played with Ben Curtis the previous fall who was number 1 in golf and at least I didn't end up with physical bruises, only mental ones.

I did see/hear an acknowledgement from one of their instructors that "whatever happens after impact is really meaningless--any rolling of the hands or clubface--the ball is long gone". So, good information is creeping in to those who keep an open mind.

Ah man I saw u posted and I was exepcting a video answer or some long scientific and not scientific response and all I get is this:(

The videos and long scientific answers directly from folks like Paul Wood, Sasho MacKenzie, etc., etc, are all over the threads about this stuff.

Folks, I just ignore all the goofballs these days.

But, I promise to come with even more facts as I work on a big speech that I am giving in a couple of months.

We know u 1 bzze fella I was just havin fun.

Preposterous nonsense. In tennis as in golf you do not roll the face during impact interval to create shots regardless of grip period. In tennis thats what people sometimes try before they learn how to do it right (spin shots)

I disagree. For some shots, under some circumstances, it is exactly what you, the thing hanging on to the handle, must do to create the 'path and face angle' necessary for the result you want. To not understand this is .....well.... preposterous nonsense.
