caddie interview

I agree that I didn't really care for the interview, but I place that blame on CBS more than Williams. All I know is Scott was at 170th in putts gained before Firestone and made the jump to 133rd. We are in August, so a jump like that is astronomical. Maybe Williams had something to do with it.

CBS does not care for Tiger and they were hoping to get a answer like they got. They went fishing and caught a big one.

Really? I thought they were some of the biggest a$$ kissers. Tiger and Feherty are usually buddy buddy. Maybe they have changed since that Masters interview that everyone else hated.

Say what???? The guy who asked the question on the 18th green is perhaps the single biggest Tiger fan in all media.

There was no conspiracy at play. This has been a story since he began working with Scott. It became a bigger story since he was "officially" sacked. And became an even bigger story during the week of Tiger's return to play. And then Scott goes out and wins, and beats Tiger by 18 shots in the process... you really think CBS went fishing by having their resident Tiger fan ask one of the central figures of "the story" questions about the win?

1) I have no issue with what Stevie said.

2) If any of you have ever been fired by an employer then you know how he feels. Sure it is easy to call him out as childish, having a huge ego, etc. etc. (and no doubt that is accurate). But when you are let go you harbor bad feelings towards the company / person that fired you.

3) Making fun of caddies for what they contribute to a golfers success is silly and simple-minded. They are an important part of the team. And Stevie is one of the best ever.

4) Stevie had not a thing to do with Woods getting caught in this scandal. Absolutely nothing. Saying he is poison on the tour with other players is ridiculous. BTW i love the classic "my good friend on the tour said..." comments. Give me a break.

Being obnoxious and insulting is not necessary on this board. You will probably find that quite a large number of members of this forum have friends on any one of the major tours.(some people have played on them)
Now since you are an expert on being fired as I have never been you should realize that professional sports are a little different from say parking cars. A PGA tour caddie is privileged to information that is very private in the basic nature of their relationship to the player. Caddies get fired often at that level and just end up on another players bag. Caddies know not to run their mouths and for the most part don't. Notice that Fluff Cowan never did. If you betray one player another is not going to want to hire you.

Ok.

Caddies matter.

The right one is worth a couple shots a round.....that's a lot.

But the right caddie for Freddie might be the wrong one for Jackie.

Steve William is worth 20 million. He is a very good caddie. He had TWs back a lot.

But, by all means, shush!

Geez....

That wsj article, and the yahoo writer they quote etc have it wrong. At the end of Feherty's interview of SW he asked a long question which took about 20-30 seconds for DF to get out, but it was in essence this:"Of the victories you've been on the bag of, this one must be one where's you've been able to have a hand in forming the golfer, right?" and SW in answer says a few things and at the very end:“It’s the most satisfying win I’ve ever had.” But it doesn't seem to me he was making a blanket comparison to Woods 13 victories for which he was on the bag. The context of the question came into play.

Interview video, the DF question ends at about 5o seconds

Not quite right, S.W. said in 33 years it was the best week of his caddie career/life and then went on about how he expects to finish first(wonder where he got that from) and how he's a front runner etc., basically if you didn't follow golf and just tuned in at the S.W. interview you would think he won the event, me,me,me.

Never seen a caddy interview before and hopefully not again.

Oh I know - in the first minute SW twice says it was the best week of his life.

Kinda wish Feherty had left it at that or had a shorter question - his build up would have boiled most people's brains.

As to why ask a caddie at all? Well SW was a part of the story, but I saw the clock and knew what was up - they had 10 minutes to fill! Should SW practice "being a front runner of a caddie" by shutting his yap more? Yes! And cut the drivel by 70% and back the new man.

Yeah, D.F. was mumbling on so much I think he forgot what his original question was, it kept morphing into another question and with added commentary in between, must of been a sort of flash back for D.F.:D

If this was the "best week of his life" then it would seem clear that he lives for revenge, not great golf. No disrespect to Adam but his win was a pimple on the butt of winning the Open by 15 shots or the Tiger Slam...Williams had the best seat in the house to the best golf anyone has ever seen, and this was the best week?

In 2000 at Pebble, TW knocked over an autograph seeking 4 year old outside the transport van. He didn't look back. The father got a little upset and said something like, 'what the hell!' SW got out of the van and shouts at the father, "FU%# YOU!!" It happened. Those two classless WWF dikheads deserve each other and all the scorn they can muster.

Video or it didn't happen.

Sorry about no video. A family of 3 that I teach went from the biggest TW fan to the most disappointed in that very moment. They wouldn't lie about it. Believe what you want.

People lie about things all the time, I don't belive it as Tiger is always surrounded by security and his group of people not to mention media, if that happened it would have been all over the media. I don't buy what your trying to sell. Sounds like haters piling on.
