Doyle v. MORAD

Boy is this thread misnamed. By the way, had a lesson with Ben last week- what a man...
relaxed and precise. And he demonstrates on you what all the stuff in the book is about. A
truly humble and great teacher.

Ben loves to teach the golf swing, and does so at EVERY opportunity. I once called him to ask about the video and mat. The conversation then led to my swing, and the very first thing he asked me was what I was trying to do. Under pressure, I mumbled something about clubhead lag. "NO", he said, "What is it that you DO?", he persisted. After several seconds of silence, he said, "Hit the inside aft quadrant of the ball". End of lesson.

Can you go into what he means by this? Thanks.

Practically speaking, if you can hit the "inside" of the ball, it would HAVE to be the inside rear quadrant. NO WAY to hit the inside forward quadrant. So the possibilities are only to hit the inside, back, or outside of the ball. So, Ben is correct - only painting a line on the ball separating it into halves is required. Painting that line is especially handy in convincing someone that in order to hit the inside of the ball, the face must be open.

The quickest tip you to offer on the driving range. Simply Line up the red stipe on the range ball so the target (red stripe) becomes the inside rear quadrant.

As an aside, it may be illegal to play with an range ball if it has a line around the ball. OTOH, you can draw a line around a golf ball and play with it, according to the rules of golf.

Very useful for putting.

You have obviously not read my work, seen my tapes or pay close attention to what I post if you think I am a TGM zealot.

I could ALWAYS teach well, TGM gives me science to base MY THEORIES on.

Ben favors a 'maximum particapation stroke' and has a pretty good model he uses to teach it.

a pre-wreck Ben HOGAN.

Brian...

Pre-wreck Ben Hogan. This is Ben's "ideal" model?

...

With all this talk about Horizontal Hinging and the Swivel I have to ask...

Is "Ben's Swivel" (or at least what Ben was demonstrating in that video on your site...and now Lynn's site) what you believe Hogan did?
