Driver off the deck?

Except for the odd rescue shot (off pine straw and under trees), I almost never play course conditions where driver from the dirt offers any advantage. When you consider the extremely low launch angle, there's just not much of a distance advantage over a well struck 3 wood... not to mention a more severe penalty for a mishit, shorter carry, and limited shot shape... however, it is fun to have a go every now and again.
