Elkington's Swing

most people shouldnt try to swing like hogan because they cant get their lower bodies to move like him.

Just the opposite. To copy Hogan’s pivot is a good thing and if you know how to do it, it is easy to produce. Learn the correct sequence of the knees and hip rotation and it is a snap.[/QUOTE]

I don't believe it. There has been Hogan worship for 50 years almost and still almost nobody has the same "look" to their swing like he does in that video. By that I mean the strong hip action while starting from a very wide stance. If people could learn to swing like this easily then there wouldnt be alll the "too fast hip openers" on tour.

I read the whole stupid thread, and although Laville got some of his analysis right (and others parts wrong), it is a stupid thread.

It was like taking a time machine back 4 years.

In my life, in my work, in my research, 4 years ago is a LIFETIME.

Thanks Brian
That was my Thread

I'd like to give this a try - copy Hogan's pivot, so could you elaborate please?

Thanks in advance.

Future, I am in no way trying to disagree or disrespect but is there any way you could post video of you swinging like Hogan? I for one would love to see how easy it is to produce. I have a hunch there is a good reason why no one has been able to reproduce it all these years.

Kevin i think it was Guitar Hero in the quote above that said Hogan's pivot is easy to reproduce. The quoting got messed up somewhere along the line from what I can tell.

think about this. If he appears to use an open stance because of bad video angle (when he's actually using a closed stance) then the ball should seem more forward, not backward, in the stance.

Reread my post(s) and then reread what you wrote above. You obviously didnt understand what I said.

absolutley leo. got confused

but if he was trying to hit a shot to the left of where the camera was aimed, then his stance would be open to he camera and the ball would look further back in his stance. its like players who appear to have the ball way back in is stance with a wedge

I don't think I really have any insight to add on Hogan's swing, but I'd really like to hear/see your analysis.

if you search the archives you'll find a very detailed audio analysis on Hogan. sorry to spoil Brian's fun but that photo you posted with all the lines was created by Brian and is what he uses for the analysis I am referring to.

I had a feeling that was the case based on this comment "Now, where did you get that "other" marked-up Hogan sequence??" The reason I put that up there is that i found it on the 'net.

Eek that thread did get bad!

Good thing for Jeff Evans, "magnum", and some other sensible (and fairly learned) posters.

Time warp!
