Put me in the camp of those who was always confused by this. Almost every time in my life that I have tried to play either a push draw or pull fade, the initial direction of the ball has been incorrect. I seem to always get a pull draw or push fade. It's demoralizing to play golf and rarely see the ball at least working TOWARD the target.

I have also noticed that when I want to play a straight-ish shot, I can most of the time, but again it rarely starts online. Anyone have any advice for someone with these issues?

Oh, and it's great to a member of this forum!

Welcome to the forum. Took me a while to figure out the D-plane, but it is real easy to understand when you understand it. The hard part is putting it to practice.

You need to have the club face pointing at or very close to where you want the ball to start at impact. You need to find the right grip, hand and arm action, and right pivot to help deliver the club face where you want it. Then the ball curves away from your swing path.

If you want more specific help on your swing, post up a thread with a video of your swing.

My father and I played this past Saturday at our local muni. I almost put it all together, but couldn't hole a birdie put down the stretch and ended up with a 72. My first even par round ever. Previously, I've had a one under and a one over. I had 5 birdie puts under 18 ft on the last 5 holes and just couldn't get one to drop. All were missed on the high side and all got to the hole, so I'm not to upset. Dplane knowledge also saved my butt on more than a few holes.

What was amazing was that I explained the basics of the Dplane to my dad before we started. Dad is a feel-only player with an 8 handicap. I explained to him that on holes where there is a side you don't want to miss it on, get the clubface pointing the other direction. He didn't miss a drive on the wrong side all day and shot a 74.

A great day for the two of us and a small bit of credit goes to this site. Thank you.
