One dominant golfer is certainly what the media longs for, and likely the PGA Tour. As a fan, I'm not so sure.

Did you watch Sunday's round? One of the worst golfing events I've seen in a long time. Nobody wanted to win it and only got interesting after the leader double bogeyed one of the last holes. WOW, exciting! The golf industry has and will continue to lose revenue if Tiger doesn't come back. Period.

Tiger was/is a once in a lifetime talent. I am fortunate to have seen one of the all time greats in his prime. If another one comes along I may not be around and I am only 37. What I do know is that I got into this game when the likes of Chip Beck was a fixture on leaderboards. I watched Nick Price win 5 tourneys in one year and I marvelled at how easy Fred Couples made the game look. The Tiger era was/is all well and good but I am puzzled when media and fans pine over the need have that 1 dominant figure. I guess they need to something to talk about. Golf is the greatest game on earth and the stories of the guys that compete week in and week out are what keep me watching...not any ONE player. Laird showed some serious balls keeping it together when he could have completely tanked and collected another top 10. That would have been easy. I couldn't step away from the TV if I tried yesterday. But that's just me.

I hear yah, it's just Tiger excites damn near the whole crowd at a tournament. He brings excitement to the game that probably nobody ever has. They showed several clips yesterday where he would make that long crucial putt and the crowd would just ROAR. IDK, maybe I'm just too much of a Tiger fan.

Remember the article in Sports Illustrated when a young Tiger said he didn't even visualize shots but just felt them in his hands? I think he's pretty removed from that these days. That said, he could always win majors while steering his way through the course.

You're right. You may just be a little too much of a Tiger fan:)

Isn't at least possible that golf, as it turns out, is actually a very tough game to play? Tiger rented it for a while, but the days of our expectations of him being super human are over. He will still win plenty of golf tournaments, but I'm afraid one major every few years will not be enough to capture the public's imagination again.

Possible but I think it's still conceivable that Tiger could put together another couple years of domination again.

If Tiger can get a swing that WORKS for HIM and gets his MIND back on track he will return. There's still plenty of gas in his tank.

ALL,
I just watched a video on another site of PAT Perez talking about his round with the 'Cat' as they called TW very interesting... Check it out... The 'Cat" wont talk to PP anymore..

Is there another video somewhere? I did not hear any mention of The "Cat" not talking to PP anymore.

No I was saying that since 'The Cat' hates when anybody says anything about his swing , that he wouldn't be friends with PP anymore... he will just take is ball and go home...
