Gather up the Marbles

I know that "gather up the marbles" means to finish with the right palm facing the golfer (or left facing the target), but can someone explain where in the swing the golfer is supposed to feel "gather the marbles". I assume this is a feeling for the right hand, where in the swing and how?

Thanks.

it is possible to hit a no leakage draw using a marbles type swivel. :)

Yeah, it is. I just don't think it's the ideal way to do it. But the thing is those guys are so darn talented they can do about anything and still hit it where they're looking.

BTW I noticed you added a response to your sig. :)

I don't usually have beefs with Miller but what the heck is he talking about "new swing"...???

Looks pretty standard to me...

That Miller comment is utter horse hockey. The ball was long gone when Davis "gathered the marbles." His marble thought may have influenced his prep to strike whitey, but it all looks pretty orthodox right up until the last bit of his follow through.

Yeah, that's what thought too. But, like you said, just thinking about that type of finish may have led him to have less roll.

Oh great...

what's the ideal way?

I can tell I'm not going to make it out of this one .

Obviously, the "ideal" way to hit a no leakage draw is going to depend on the individual. But, GENERALLY speaking (as I understand it, please correct me if I'm wrong), more roll = less chance of leakage, and more roll = more draw inducing. So theoretically speaking, you'd want as much roll as you can without hooking (that would cause compression leakage).
Of course, you can hit marbled draws, full-rolled fades, and anything in between. If you play a fade 90 percent of the time with a "marble" swivel, then adjusting something else to hit a draw once and a while makes sense.
However, I just don't see any advantage in "fighting" what you're trying to do. In Tiger's case (again, just as I understand it), why would you try and anti-hook your swing (with five things according to one of Brian's posts), and try and hit a bunch of draws? I'd say pick one side of the course and get rid of it.
However, he obviously can make it work ;).

Anyone?

In my latest experiments to find a consistent soft-draw pattern I have not been full rolling it. (for me that tends to too hard a draw) It's not an all-out gather "up the marbles" "hold it off" type-deal. I just let my left wrist bend past the ball.

Not bad so far but still up in the air.

I know I know.

To me they're pretty similar though.............it's just one bends in the left wrist and with the other the left wrist stays flat.
