I agree David...
I always used to read too much into it...but that's because, at the time, there were "missing pieces to the puzzle" that I didn't know about...so I'd try and "rip the puzzle apart and start over again"...if you know what I mean.
I think...if you emulate his grip, his "single" forward ball position (Ben Doyle method w/ varying stance width/axis tilt and stance line), his plane/right elbow, and the amount he opens up the clubface on the backswing...you will be pretty close.
And again, if you take anything away...you may have some trouble.
