With all of the things I have learned here about the swing, the contribution of TGM, teachers like Manzella and how it has been proven that the flatter the left wrist at impact the lower the handicap......

GOLF MAGAZINE GIVES THE MIKE TO SOMEBODY THAT WANTS YOU TO "FLIP YOUR WRISTS"

Why would they give the mike to some two-bit infomercial guy, Natural Golf wasn't even given this much respect.....What's next month a centerpiece about Dalton McCrarry and his 40, c'mon GOLF get a clue.

I was even more disappointed to see TGM guy Martin Hall semi-back him up.

I sent an email to their editor, I doubt it will be answered, but in it, I told him if he wants golfers to improve, he'll find teachers in the trenches like Brian and give them a shot at doing what they haven't been able to do for 30 years, and that is lower the national handicap, and with this months article probably made a lot of people worse.

End of Rant, Brian, I hope you get your shot one day.

My brother purchased his videos a couple of years ago. We started to practice what he was teaching but only got worse. If you’re a slicer and do what he says opening the face on the way back you’re only going to slice it even more. I can truly say that instruction like this is way the average Joe is never getting better. Thank God for TGM and teacher like Brain. I think A.J. Is in the magazine because of the number of sales of his video. The magazine doesn’t care if he makes anyone better because if they do people won’t buy the magazine. At least that’s my 2 cents for what its worth. Here is a clip of Golfonline parent company of Golf Magazine.

What a knob man...

It's like he hasn't even thought about what he's saying so confidently....

"This is the only way to open the clubface!"

Uh....

(knob)

...

Man....well....

His name IS Bonar....

Ok well...

At the end of the video he did almost seem to advocate a full roll......not a flip.....

So that's good...

But that first part is just false.

Golf tips

When I was at the grocery store the other night I was looking in the Magazine section and saw the Golf Tips had put out Instruction 2007 Annual. In it they had a article about what you don’t want to do for a modern golf swing compared to the guys in the past. Something that was shocking to me was the guys they said you don’t wont to look like or do is Lee Trevino, Jack Nichlaus, Hale Irwin and Johnny Miller. They said something like you should not look like (Brains logo)Lee Trevino when coming into impact with the head back and right shoulder down for the modern day swing and that your knees should never look like Johnny Millers did. I’m not sure who the article was written by but they most of been doing some thing right becaue that’s allot of majors between the four of them. I not saying the article is wrong …..but hmmmm…………..

Jim,

I think it was the Instruction 2007 annual but they also had the best of Golf Tips 2006 I was looking at too.

I used to look forward to the new issue of these rags. This site and TGM has really identified the poor state of instruction out there in the media. Bonar's and Smith's articles in the major magazines this month are drivel. Reading any of the articles on this site will result in immediate lower scores and importantly will stay with the golfer. Difference between tips and fundamentals.

Wasnt it Ben Hogan that said to try to time your hands to hit the ball at impact was "pure folly, a devilish thing to time" Thats what AJ is proposing. I tried to do that and its always hit or miss. Usually it was a hook for me because I flipped my hands too fast and I wasnt openning my hips properly.

The weird thing about AJ is if you look in his book, he shows himself in a drawing at impact looking totally TGM. He also says that you need to hit down on the ball with the hands ahead of the ball at impact, delofting the clubface. But his main theory of timing the hit as if the club face was a baseball bat is very hard to be consistent at.

I think if you are swinging the club face has to be openned (see Tommy Tomasello) otherwise if you keep it closed its more of hit, but AJ thinks thats all you have to do, and thats just wrong....

I don't think rundmc is going to take too kindly to your lack of proper respect for Dalton McCrarry

Go right ahead.

Cupped (Bent) to Slightly arched.

Sergio and Hogan do it.

Can't be all bad.

IF you can.

Is that what AJ says to do? I don't know a bunch about his stuff.

I would agree that the IF is a pretty big IF.

What do you think about people with Turned Left Hands? Do you think people that think the have a 10-2-D grip really have one? Do you think that the Turned Left Hand limits a player in terms of the procedure he can use e.g. just for Hitting?

Rundmc,

His thing is that as long as you open the club face on the back swing and then essentially time the closing of the club face, it will act like a mimi base ball bat creating extra power. He is not concerned at all about your backswing or footwork, just that you open the club face and then time the closing of it through impact with a delofted club face hit the down on the equator of the ball.

He also uses an image of pounding a nail downward into the back of the ball for irons and directly through the equator of the ball with your driver.

Your right some of the stuff sems TGMish, but instead driving the hands forward and having a late rolling of the wrist, he wants you to roll them right at impact. He says "all the pro's do it" especially Els....
