Regarding the test

Just watch The Breakfast Club. The end sums it up rather nicely.
As for Haney/Woods...I wonder if Golf Channel will severe their ties with Haney once this season is done. I imagine it was already filmed or mostly filmed when the book came out so they were stuck. It will say a lot about those that run the Golf Channel if the Haney Project is on next season. I agree with most, Haney is wrong for having written the book, Tiger is an ass, and Haney couldn't help himself.

maybe the writing was already on the wall for haney, he isnt getting any younger, has no real stable of players so to speak so this was his last way to cash out.

Don't forget re Haney, in the book, he says when he got Woods as a student, he intuited that this would be the last pro he would ever teach.

And here's the nail in the coffin , if anyone had any doubts.
Yep, no pro would touch Haney after this book. But I guess he doesn't need any if you can make more money with a book then you can ever make of teaching.

Reteaching a pro golfer is problematic .... because their neuro-muscular system and brain connections are rigidly established so that they cannot be modified successfully. What happens to pros is they regress back to their old form under stress, and the result is a mix of old and new swing signals. It becomes a total mess watching them flail in futility.

Best to scam the deluded golffing masses who are looking for that one swing tip that will help them realize their fantasies. Books, gizmos, fancy equipment, snazzy clothing, heavily advertised vodka, clubhouse atmosphere.... and with plenty of discretionary income to waste on the unattainable. Even Jack Nicklaus is pimping the useless Powerchute gizmo ....LOL

I am going to read it. It's not the first time Hank has made a few bucks off me buying one of his books. I assuming this new one will have some value as opposed to "The Last Lesson You'll Ever Need".

Steve, to make comments like this on a website owned and run by a guy that makes a living teaching people (pro's included) that its feeble to try to change someone is subjective at best and completely ignorant at worst. "What happens to pros is...."

YOU DON'T TEACH.

Remind yourself of that sometimes.

Utter pseudo-science bs. it's the sort of pseudo-science that appeals to pseudo-scientists.

Pros are more teachable than anyone. A great teacher with the right tweak can change a pro's swing in a couple hours.

Oh yeah, pro's are terrible at changing their games. Faldo is a perfect example! He changed his swing and what did he win?

The first paragraph of my posting refers to Haney not teaching pros, and the second paragraph generalizes when teaching gurus pimp gizmo scams. You have a problem with that?? Haney worked with Woods to change his swing after Harmon, and now Foley is taking a shot at it. Woods may still not get it right... maybe after Manzella ....!!!!

A teacher can tweak and change anybody's swing, but will it stick? No it won't, and that's a physiological fact. The only thing "pseudo" is your comment.

Leadbetter publicly admitted his work with Faldo was "experimentation" ... and it took all of two years before Faldo started winning. Faldo believed in "one swing" for all clubs, which we now know is wrong. Of course there are exceptions to all generalizations. You can probably find scores of failed pro golfers who were unsuccessful developing a consistent, reliable pro swing.

Steve really has no idea on this stuff....

I have some ideas on human motor control and learning. Perhaps Arturo (or others on the science team) can help out here on this stuff.

I will read the book.Besides all the juicy stuff there are good insights into Tiger's personality and character.I believe Haney said that Tiger makes all these changes in his swing mainly to keep him focused and motivated.I will read this as Tiger is a person who gets bored easily and his 20 mistresses confirms this.

I have a friend exactly like this so I understand better than most the psyche. My friend is a little better as he occasionally offers me a popsicle from his fridge.lol

You have a friend with 20 mistresses? Does he throw you some side action every now and then? Forget the Popsicle!
