I will comment....

Just want to see comments without my influence.....

I'm seeing the cutout and sternum follow the clubhead mass.

The left shoulder down and out.

The right shoulder up and in.

Significantly not much movement of the pelvic girdle.

THE CALVES and HAMSTRINGS ARE STAYING PUT.

I see a noticeable shift of the upper part of the sternum area to the golfer's right and slightly towards the ground.

with

Less movement from the waist down compared to the upper sternum area movement.

It's a normal consequence of transferring the weight to the rear heel while letting the upper part of the body + head move naturally (i.e. not artificially innaturally centered), the more Hogan setup with a bit kicked-in rear leg which somehow makes the difference between those frames bigger.

Cheers

Is that a still camera? If so, I'm a little shocked that Hogan's right hip shifted so far to the right relative to where it was at address (face-on view).

AFter the "STEP" before the "FALL"....

Brian,

This initial 'outline' presentation style versus the first image of this string is VERY revealing and informative to me, as it indicates that the coccyx hardly moved during the back swing and STEP, two very CRUCIAL time frames necessary to establish/maintain 'dynamic balance and stability.

Thanks, and I look forward to the composite results.

My eyes tell me that his left hip has moved back (away from ball), without a large lateral shift (away from the target).

Right hip higher than left at top of backswing.

Interesting seeming contradiction at da Academy

We should see the original footage along with the sequence if/when that is made.

Dear lia,

Don't you think there is 'qualitative' value in seeing these kind of data ??

Like the many videos you and Dariusz have provided in the past, I have been able to get some 'macro' ideas as to how the golf swing develops for a wide variety of golfers.

As an example, just yesterday, I visited Dariusz's 'Biokinetic' site and watched even Ben Hogan BBKIB, however, in his case, it was at the very START of the back swing rather than at the END of the set-up phase. So even though it was an old, grainy, 2D film/video, it helped me understand better how even Mr. Hogan developed dynamic balance and stability many many years ago.

So, IMO, every type of recording device can make a contribution to a better understanding of the golf swing as we all seek 'golf truth', with the realizable dream of getting better.

Sincerely,
art

I am looking forward to the frame that shows his left hip relative to address when the clubhead is at the lowest point in the move back.

Art,

I'm merely establishing that it seems that when one person making arguments using a certain modality does so, he is almost automatically dismissed as a loon for being so misguided as to take that particular approach.

All the best,
lia

P.S. Dariusz will love your use of the word macro so much. And that should humble all of us whoever derided his knowledge. And those whose work is derided for focusing on the micro, we owe them a debt of gratitude as well. If we are open to understand, that is. And the truest love of learning and knowledge.

Lia,

I don't know any other way to say this:

When we say you "can't use video" we are talking about things like rotational velocities, how much a right wrist has straightened or not, whether someone's got a certain amount of turn, etc. etc.

These shots of Hogan are showing GROSS MOVEMENT. We haven't claimed it PROVES anything. In fact, I haven't even made my post on the pics yet.

Can I make a comment before you judge it?
