Is it ok to open the club face on the way up oppose to slighly shut?

"Throughout your golf swing, your clubface has to come open on the backswing and then rotate to the closed position as you move the club through the hitting zone and into the follow-through"

??

Just an observation on my part, but most Tour players look more closed to my eye. If toe up at parallel to the ground on the backswing is opened up 90% from square at address, then most Tour players are much less than 90* (or less open) at that point in the swing.

Tom Watson is an advocate of having the clubface face the ball more or slightly shut going back with at least a two knuckle showing left hand grip for most hackers.

Watch a video of Brian Manzella in one of his clips where the camera is behind him. That clubface (iron) is facing the ball for quite awhile going back (more shut) which is much less than 90* opened on his backswing.

IMO most Tour players do not roll their forearms (opening clubface) and take the club back in what would be called more closed.

i much prefer it slightly to moderately shut, it has never made sense to me to open the face up when you will just have to shut it down again to be square at impact. i've watched a lot of tour guys on youtube also and it does seem like most are slightly to very (furyk) closed when the club is parallel to ground on backswing.

Some play better that way. It's easier to go to a position than hold a position, eases tension in the hands, feels better, who knows could be lots of reasons.

I WAS ON THE PHONE, DUNNO WHAT I WAS TYPING HAHAHHAHAHHA.

BUT THIS THREAD DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION HERE.

NOTHING TO LOOK HERE
