Keep in mind that the hand path "depth" that is a side-effect of an SD-type backswing allows for some versatility in the down and through swings to produce multiple shot shapes. You can reverse tumble THAT nearly all the way to a sliding fade, no problemo.

Amazing how similar the second picture looks like the illustration but its clear, to me at least, how he's begun to level off and begin the swallowing out by the time he's at the top.

Pay attention to what Jacobs says about (well..everything but especially) the flail action...

Can you say carry and drop?

In hands, out hands, across the line, laid off, lift the heel, don't lift the heel, strong grip, weak grip, center pivot, non-centered pivot, tumble, reverse tumble, OTT, under plane, roll release, slap hinge, etc., etc., etc...

Is there any one thing, any "flaw", any perceived "less than optimum" position that hasn't been done to near perfection at some point in history?

In other words, can anyone say "No great player ever ______."
