A bit exaggerated backswing....close though.

Keep in mind that the hand path "depth" that is a side-effect of an SD-type backswing allows for some versatility in the down and through swings to produce multiple shot shapes. You can reverse tumble THAT nearly all the way to a sliding fade, no problemo.

I agree that it's close but for most mortals, that's the soft, undercut fade, sometimes drop kick hook pattern

Amazing how similar the second picture looks like the illustration but its clear, to me at least, how he's begun to level off and begin the swallowing out by the time he's at the top.

Absolutely.

But he had NO PROBLEM drawing the ball, and reworked his swing every year for Augusta.

That turned out pretty well.

In hands, out hands, across the line, laid off, lift the heel, don't lift the heel, strong grip, weak grip, center pivot, non-centered pivot, tumble, reverse tumble, OTT, under plane, roll release, slap hinge, etc., etc., etc...

Is there any one thing, any "flaw", any perceived "less than optimum" position that hasn't been done to near perfection at some point in history?

In other words, can anyone say "No great player ever ______."
