Johnny Miller

Can someone get him fired for impact stupidity? He honestly believes that Furyk is intentionally opening the clubface at impact! He probably thinks gear effect is for bicycles.

I actually like his color, and find him entertaining because you never know what he'll say and doesn't seem to play favorites. And I always like listening to someone who's "been there done that" talk about the feels and thoughts of what those situations are like. But...

Is there any slo motion of JF's club doing the opposite motion at impact? Just curious if it happens just about every shot, I doubt they are all toe hits.

I wouldn't call those "toe hits". His CG's are off center just enough (it only takes a dimple(s) worth) to cause a little gear effect. But the resulting "movement" towards open is not something he is doing/controlling through impact.

I wonder if any of Johnny Miller's co-announcers/on-course boys know he's talking twaddle, but are too reticient to make him look stupid on air?

Miller is entertaining to me because you just never really know what he is going to say. I also like figuring out if what he is saying is true or not. Kind of like a game of true/false built into a golf telecast.

I don't know the history of JM, but me thinks he would have had a longer career if he knew what he was doing when things went crooked. The garbage he speaks tells me he lost "it" and couldn't get "it" back so he quit.

He lost it!!! He's probably the only guy that won't kiss the players asses, but he's either lying or clueless about impact conditions. Next he'll say the path causes most of the initial direction.

Great set up! Best in the world having trouble breaking par without the Shinnecock nonsense. Mike Davis deserves a raise.

Not sure but there was one of GMAC I think and the face closed, followed by JMiller saying he tweaked it closed when the ball was on the face.

"People are saying you can't do it but WAM! there it is he fades it at impact. I know you can do it because I used to do it and I was the best iron player ever."

I still think Miller is the best announcer, I dont really care that he doesnt know physics. There's probably only one or two people in the world who know the physics and have the communications skill to pull off hours worth of decent commentary IMO.

Miller gives perspective from someone whose felt it and done it.
I will take him over some golf nerd talking d plane and impact physics anytime.
side not I would love to play with the swingvision camera...

"And did you hear, Johnny won the Open at Oakmont by shooting 63 on Sunday! He was also a member at Olympic as a kid!"-Dan Hicks

Okay, so he doesn't understand impact dynamics. He doesn't understand D-Plane. He doesn't know the first thing about putting and he likes to talk smack about anyone playing today. Christ, I can get that crap from my brother-in-law. That's why I turn off the sound and turn up Chet Baker. Watching golf is fun again.

I have to ask: we're you listening to "Let's Get Lost" when Westwood parked it in the tree?
