Johnny Miller

What he meant IMO was Furyk was trying to open the face to the path. And Furyk is clearly doing that. Now, if Miller says something like that that seems absurd on its face, I would think about it hard first before dismissing him. There is a reason why he's one of the most accurate ball strikers on Tour ever, you know, at least during his prime years when he can putt. And when I did think about it, yeah Miller is right.

You not figuring it out doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. And you brought out this topic that Miller is wrong, so your opinion is fair game...so don't be too sensitive here...

With scientists saying one thing, and Johnny Miller saying another, it can be quite confusing...

We don't have to figure it out. It has already been figured. 'Thinking about it hard' won't change the evidence. Words from a once great ballstriker are NOT 'evidence'.

Historically, opposing real science in favor of 'but this other guy said blank and he sounded like he really knew what he was talking about' has NOT worked out.

Think about it hard.

Johnny Miller means what he says. He truly believes that someone can open or close their clubface AT THE SAME TIME THE BALL TOUCHES THE CLUBFACE. Nobody can change their swing in 1/2000th of a second. All of the programming happens well before the first touch. Miller says that one can re-program the clubface at the first touch/impact.

It's so hard to believe that he actually thinks this. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can be that stupid or ignorant, especially a chap with Miller's golf knowledge.. What about the time it take to process feel and action? He MUST know this, surely he must...

From Johnny Miller's "10 rules for sticking irons"....

08 "Photograph" impact.
During one of my nice streaks in the mid- 1970s, Jack Nicklaus stopped me on the range one day and asked what I was working on. I told him I was concentrating on impact, trying to "freeze frame" that fraction of a second. "You can actually see that?" asked Jack. When I told him I could after months of training my eyes to take a "photograph" of impact, Jack said, "You're crazy; the club is moving too fast." But, as I said to him, it's not only possible, it's one of my secrets for hitting great iron shots. When I took the picture, so to speak, I checked that the clubface was square and delofted slightly, and that I was making crisp contact. Satisfy those impact conditions, and you'll start chasing flags.

Maybe he should of taken a "photograph" of his putter at impact.

Yeah, ok Johnny.

He then went on to explain to Jack that he was from a very special place, where the only thing that could really hurt him was Kryptonite. He then told Jack the story of the 1973 open at Oakmont. He had originally placed third but in the midst of an extreme fit of rage, he flew around the planet thousands of times reversing the rotation of the earth and amazingly turning back the hands of time. He could then replay and pull off the marvelous victory.

"You see Jack, I'm actually the son of a man named Jorel; you might want to sit down for this......."

I'm not mad at all counsellor. You know the drill.

However, now that I've seen the video, Miller is actually being sarcastic in there...c'mon...

However, you can really open the face. When the face hits the ball, since its in the process of opening, the face opens a bit more, just like what happens in that video of Tiger.

Wanna know how to do it?

At this point I think it would be best to not engage this guy, obvious troll is obvious.

That voodoo that you do so well.

If a movie was made about Miller's career, this guy would play him...

"I can put this club on that ball, open it up, and there's nothing you can do about it."
