Left forearm do not rotate through out the whole swing?

Clubface control was always a mystery to me before I found out mine was too open.

100% mystery.

Any more info only lead to more confusion till I got that fixed.

lead arm rotates 45 degrees on the backswing, 45 degrees on the downswing back to square, and 45 degrees in the forward swing

I say no. It varies for every golfer. Would you tell this to someone like Rory Sabbatini who clearly rotates his left arm much more than this in his backswing? And what about on the forward swing? A guy like Lee Trevino clearly rotates it less than, say, Kenny Perry.

Trevino rotates his arms as much as anybody. Just not necessarily as much during the impact interval. He uses the Manzella NSA full roll swivel. Don't let the hold off finish fool you. Nothing was held off.

Fair enough. But what about on the backswing with a guy like Rory Sabbatini? Compare him with a guy like Brad Faxon or DL III and you can see some very obvious differences.

were you under the impression that I think that every single good golfer on the planet rotates their lead arm exactly 45.00000 degrees(ideally to an infinite number of sig figs) on the backswing and the opposite on the downswing? its an approximation for the purpose of illustrating what should be done to someone who doesn't necessarily know that. of course some do it a little more and some a little less. but no good golfer does it A LOT more or less.

I think it doesn't really matter if u rotate that arm or not, some people rotate in certain degree, some people don't, you just have to compensate if you over rotate.

See what you're saying now. When you first posted the "45 degree rule" it sounded like you were preaching some kind of dogma. You obviously wouldn't teach everyone to avoid rotating the left arm going back; it's part of the pattern in NHA and works well for guys who fight hooks.

ok, so after 3 years, I just let it rotate, but I also cup my wrist.

not rotating the forearm on the backswing causes me a bunch of problems.

If i don't rotate my forearm at all, I would open the club on the way down much more than I intended to i.e. underplane. Now I just use my pivot and let my left forearm roll. However, If I have a flat wrist at the top, I will hit a pull draw. if i have my thumb underneath (cup left wrist) I hit it straight and I can shape the ball pretty well with it as well. Now, I don't try to think about this on my backswing, because it's detrimental. I don't thinK I can even perform this during a tournament.
1 thought is more than enough.

One problem I did find was I was hooking my driver and my 2 hybrid.
I checked the setup, the driver was set for draw, which I could just change the weight on my R11 or Superquad. I can't use my 2 hybrid anymore because the club face is closed. It's setting up for pretty much hooks.

In these two years, I kept trying to find the right swing for me, but I should have focused more on the club fitting as well. This is why I felt like i could never get better, sometimes I could hit my irons well, sometimes my driver, but never both. WHY? because my irons / hybrid / driver all have different settings.

I felt like an idiot.

The story of my life.

p.s. although i feel like I'm rotating my whole left arm, I'm not laid off because I cup my wrist.

Jeff
