I have attended EVERY PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit.

I am attending EVERY one of these.

Joe Daniels has done a good with the summit—and has made some great announcemnts.

The 7th Edition of The Golfing Machine WILL BE ON THE MARKET in early '06.

The Golfing Machine will have a new first class website.

Sally Kelley and Don Shaw via Video and Ben gave a talk about Homer.

Ben Doyle was given the LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT AWARD from The Golfing Machine, LLC and I, along with Tom Ness and Bobby Clampett were his presentes—a real honor!

I gave a 90 min talk on how I teach G.O.L.F. and I did ok (I give it a B+).

Any AI's who didn't attend, missed a very good (overall) first day.[8D]:D:)

I attended the 1st Annual Football Summit this past Saturday night at the Georgia dome, where my Dawgs put on a football clinic. Dawgs definitely sustained the line of compression on the Bayou Bengals, which more than made up for the clinic they gave us 2 years ago-a clinic led by Skyler Green. This most recent clinic was led by DJ shockley and Mario Minter. I found the Tigers to be very pliable students. Brian,I tried to call you on your cell but got a funky flashing tone. Sorry i missed you.

how big of changes do you anticipate for the new golfign machine book? Is the readability factor supposed to be improved much?

Brian:
I'm sure that your B+ effort knocked 'em out of their seats and I'm glad that you feel that TGM is headed in a positive direction. [8D] Could you provide a podcast summarizing all the happenings at the summit? I for one would greatly appreciate it.

All positive occurrences...but..how close are we to a "Golfing Machine" type of magazine? ..a la Riggs' wonderfully done "Golf Tips"....could be a quarterly...available by subscription or newstand purchase....the market may develop to support such a venture...I'd subscribe....beats the same-old, same-old of "Golf" and "Golf Digest"...,,,thoughts?

It would be great- something many have had on a wished list for years.

You will need a staff to write, illustrate, edit, layout, print, and circulate the magazine. Dollars to pay the staffs. . And an Advertisement Dept to sell ads (to whom?) to make more throw-away dollars.

I would love to hold this product in my hand and read it and keep it but the internet cuts out much of the cost.

Thank goodness for Brian and Lynn and the army of followers for being our magazine so far.

Brian, as an audience member and summit attendee I loved your presentation as I coach in the 'real world' as i need to improve my 'dog and pony' show and quick fix style to sell the truth in a better way. I know rooming with Ben that he said your presentation was not quite precise (we all know Ben teaches developmental and likes to bring people up to his level rather than go down to their level) although he didnt hate it. I and other AI 's loved it as it related to our business.

Well done B man. Don Villavaso from New Orleans would have been proud!

Brian and other AIs at The Golfing Machine Summit?

As I see it the TGM book rights are owned by ONE AI.

For TGM to really get out there and promote it self requires a group effort with all the AIs working under one banner. As I see it the benefits of such an effort would only help Joe Daniels . What is being done to make it worth while putting in the all for one one for all effort ? As I see it the situation is set up for TGM splinter groups and factions operating independantly. What is Joe Daniels proposing to change this?

Brian,
I really enjoyed your presentation at the summit. I would have liked more time for you to tell real world stories, but I know they had a schedule!
I would love to hear how you would have handled the high handicap student on day two.

MJ, would you like your doctor to be dubbbed MD?
I see your point, but why not go for the highest level of education you can, especially if you can already get your students to compress the ball?

As far as factions...I was THERE.

Ben is on board.

Tom Bartlett—18 YEARS after basically finishing his test—is now an AI and is on board.

I often DISAGREE with the PGA, but I am a member & I go to ALL of the Shows, Summits, etc.

Got it?

Pro - you have more faith in the American Medical Assn than I do. Picking an MD is a lot like picking a golf instructor from a list headed up by Gary Wiren.

MJ,
Agreed!!! But that is part of the point of the AI's, sort of the anti Wirens!!!
If you want you can find fault with any industry for bad apples, I just think to go through the authorized instructor program will help to weed out some of the bad apples.
There are great teachers who are not authorized, but their are more that are authorized!

The problem is not the all for one.

The problem is the one for all.

Personally I enjoyed the summit. I believe that the The Machine is making efforts to move in the correct direction. I liked meeting all the fellow instructors, and exchanging ideas. I wish more would have come so that they could also be heard and have some input. It is unfortunate that more good TGM guys could not be there. But it has to start somewhere. I think Joe and Beth worked hard and put together a good event. Ben was honored, which was well deserved, and he seemed happy as can be. I really enjoyed listening to Bobby Clampett and hear him describe his relationship with Ben, awesome. Brian never fails to entertain, I was glad to seem him there, I hope in the future more instructors will put aside their differences for the common good of TGM.
But these things are not always cut and dry. Now the groundwork has been laid, and the summit and machine can only grow from here. I hope in the future we can all gather under the same tent, the near future.

I often feel the PGA is "All against one."

But, I pay my dues and show up.

I learned a lot on the pick-up fields and courts of New Orleans, and it all applies here:

Show up.

Even if you get picked last—play hard, so you never get picked last again.

There is a "house" everywhere and a "clique" everywhere, but if they let you in the game—even for a second—you can shut up a LOT of mouths.

Pay attention when you are on the sidelines.

Fight like HELL for "winners"—then hug after.

What exactly do you mean by this?

I am uncertain of the context this statement is made in.
I loved the summit as much as Ben and Brian did!
And I teach all patterns and component variations when needed, not just the ones in the 6th edition.
Lets all go forward together and deep down not superficially: no egos if you know what I mean.
Go all of TGM lets kick butt this century!

The Basic Stroke Patterns of the 6th Edition are 'jumping off' places. Unlike the Sample Stroke Patterns of the earlier editions, they are not ends in themselves. Homer's stated intent was that they be customized by the advanced player, especially for Power (miniaturized and maximized).

I showed up.

For two years.

And played hard one-on-none.

Time for a new game.
