Long lay off, weight loss and a question for Brian....

And all to be honest....

I've had about 4 months off golf and have lost around about 3 stone (UK weight) and have done a lot of work posture wise via Egoscue exercises to correct general (not golf) poor posture and help prevent future neck and back problems.

I have hit a few balls this week and as I would of expected after a lay off everything felt AWFUL.

I have heard of people struggling after weight loss but is there anything specific I should be looking at doing.

I will never be a range junkie again, both for fear of injury and as I know it doesn't do my golf any good to hit too many balls.

Brian,

I know we struggled with getting my weblesson sorted but I now have all day free on wednesday each week (UK time) to try to arrange something with you.

I have used my lay off to ignore ALL golf websites and books to clear my head of all the junk flying around...

Hope this year is my best yet and good luck to everyone else too this year.

Gareth

And also this cutie is the other reason for no golf in the last few months :)

Ruby has begun training to NOT chase golf balls :D

From what i have heard golfers who tend to lose a lot of weight can find their swing becomes a bit quicker, you might want to check your tempo and rhythm. Also losing a bit of bulk might free you up and make you a bit more flexible and this could change your mechanics as well.

Ill tell you from experience... Loosing weight is good for your game, like it was said, watch for being a tad quicker, I lost 45 pounds last year, and my game improved. I gained about 25 back, and I could tell hitting shots... KEEP that weight OFF!.
