Those swing "faults" are not faults. They are integral to Mac's model. There are specific reasons for the low hands. If you vary from this, you now have another type of swing model. Mac's model DOES work...

No kidding???

To some they are...So why are his hands so low?...

Clues: Radius of Gyration, Gyroscopic Progression, Infrapersonal Space, Managing the Moment of Inertia, Controlling Arc Size in the Backstroke, Stabilizing Centers of Rotation ...

Oh yeah I forgot this "psycho babble" means nothing to most...

I'm still waiting to hear the "critique of his motion"...since he's only a "never has been" ...after all statistics are for losers and he has only 2 PGA Tour wins...So he just wasn't as good as the hype...Right!!!

David Alford...I know you got talent and nothing to prove to anyone...I cannot believe you gave a compliment..LOL...about the "perfect implementation" of the early set model...That was nice and not harsh at all!!!

Well I go away for the evening and wham, I think im done writing on this post.I agree on where this has headed after much sleep. My vote is that Orr is a great ballstriker:)

Flattering...but ....

How many majors did I win?...None...

How many PGA Tour Victories?...None...

Can I stike it?...I HOPE SO...Why would you take a lesson form someone who cannot demonstrate correctly...especially when you are working with a tour player...You can ffol the masses...but not them!!!!

That's another thing...why would a Tour player take any advice from a "yahoo" who cannot do it himself..

AND ....don't give that crap of "a good teacher doesn't have to be able to do it" ..That's BUNCH OF BULL right there Pardsy!!!

Do I know Mac and How good he really is?...ABSOLUTELY!! Firsthand experience!!!!

The Final Word on Mac....for now.

Mac O'Grady was a good young player who got messed up by bad instruction.

He found The Golfing Machine, met and worked a bit with Homer Kelley, spent 10 days with Ben Doyle.

He qualified for the PGA Tour on his 17th try.

He gave The Golfing Machine credit.

He won two tournaments.

He and a pal named (something like) Zavin Makijan, studied The Golfing Machine and found what they called errors and a "Fatal Flaw." This was published in Golf Digest and hurt the TGM community greatly.

He called his "new & improved" golf stroke explanation MORAD.

Makijan O'Grady Research and Development.

He dropped off of the tour to teach and publish a book. It was supposed to be completed in about 1991. It is supposedly finished, but still is not published.

In 1990 he presented at the 3rd PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit. He didn't say much about mechanics, promoted his own "summit," and claimed Bobby Clampett had "too much lag and couldn't hit his driver straight as a result." Ben Doyle—reaching a decibel level with his voice never he before or since attained—shouted back: "That's not true."

MORAD was now McCord O'Grady Research and Development, after working with Gary McCord's game and forming a short partnership.

Mac continued teaching, but his PGA Tour teaching presence fell off dramatically in the 90's. Some say he wanted it that way.

MORAD was now Mac O'Grady Research and Development, which is continues to me to this day.

He continues teaching and doing seminars for small groups. He is said to have changed or added to his "models."

He continues to play, and played in a couple of events this past year, one on the regular tour, one in the Senior US Open.

He was and is an impressive striker of the ball, and by all accounts a very good teacher.

I would like to attend one of his seminars in the future and learn from his findings and theories.

But, this is my forum, and this thread is a little too much and avertisment for Mac and his followers, so I'll try locked and if that doesn't work, it goes to the archives.

Thanks for all the comments,

BM
