"Where's Brian been?"
Well, as some of you know, me and my wife Lisa lost our house in Katrina. Well to be exact, our house had 11 feet of contaminated flood salt water in our house for two weeks, and it was not worth saving. We lost 99% of everything we ever owned and—at the end of the day—about $150,000.
We don't give up. We didn't give up, and we knocked the old house down and started to try to rebuild on the same spot. Except our builder didn't have enough credit, and the bank wouldn't approve him.
So we got another, more "reputable" builder. He was approved, and the house went up fast.
Until, about a month ago. It slowed up a bunch, and we chalked it up to the "joy" of building a house.
We couldn't be that lucky.
The builder is now basically penny-less, and hasn't paid our "subs" for months. The bottom fell out of his once very successful business, by way of a bunch of bad business decisions, practices, accounting, and high living.
Looks like we will be out nearly, yet another, $150,000. Over and above the contracted amount of the house.
I am now "building" the house to completion, and the last couple of weeks has been a nightmare of meetings with the builder, his staff, lawyers, other clients of this builder in the same boat, negotiating with the sub-contractors, etc.
I try to post as much as I can, but, it has been very tough.
We'll get through it, it's only money and time, and I'll be posting at my old clip very soon.
Thanks for keeping the best site in golf alive and well.
Thanks,
BriManz
