Check this out from a recent pro am. At least he hit a bama fan.

Even his practice swing seems very under on the downswing. It is really hard to watch. If I had that many lessons with someone and still hit it like that, I would be pretty pissed off.

First of all, who is that dumb to stand that close while Chuck is getting ready to hit a shot, I wouldn't feel safe standing behind him!

It's been said at least a million times, but his swing truly is unreal. Every time you watch it, you feel the same agony for him that you did the first time you saw it. If you watch the show, you really can tell that Hank is getting frustrated. I have always loved Chuck and I hope that somebody can get him straightened out one day. It just doesn't look like it's going to be Haney.

Bama: The MOST irrational fans of an institution that can possibly exist. They have zero logic when it comes to their football program, its coaches or players. It is impossible to have a legitimate conversation with an Alabama fan.

So yes, in SEC country Bama fans are absolutely the most hated...followed closely by the hillbillies up in Knoxville.

Okay...you're an SEC guy, I get it now. Im also an SEC homer(LSU fan), so I understand your frustration and I agree with you. I thought you were a Big Ten fan or something. You know its kind of like only you can talk trash about your family, but if someone else outside the family does..thats ass. I will say though, if I lived in Alabama Id be irrational as well...its all they have to look forward to every year...arghh dreadful.

Wow...as a Bama alum and long-time season ticket holder (currently living in the Bay Area), I can only say you must not know very many Bama fans.

"MOST irrational"...."zero logic"..."impossible to have a legitimate conversation"..."most hated"....and I suppose those are rational comments? Amazing.

Wow...you've either spent very little time in Alabama or you just enjoy hyperbole. I must say, today is the first time I've seen this side of what until today I viewed as a great forum filled with great people.

I feel bad for Chuck because he really loves the game and has just hit a bad spot, and then he just compounded his problems when he got stuck with a teacher like Haney whose only solution to his yip is to stand behind him and yell "flatter!!!"

I do not sympathize with Haney at all though, first rule of teaching anything whether it's golf or math or whatever, if what your doing isn't working and the student isn't getting it, then you have to find a different solution or a different teaching method.

There are plenty of people on this forum who could have helped Chuck with his swing more than Haney.

I don't doubt that this is true at all as I've been shocked at the collective knowledge on this forum in my short time here. Coming from a layman, this shouldn't carry much weight, but Haney seems to be fixated on where Charles is at the top of his backswing, which may not be an ideal position, but even if he looked like Steve Elkington at the top, wouldn't anything he did correctly in the backswing be nullified by that 2' dive he makes at the ball? Or is the lunge (or whatever it is) caused by his top position? I'm interested in hearing what some of you would do to help Chuck out.

He needs the Ernest Jones swinging drill at the beginning of Soft Draw.

Then make that swing with a ball in front of him.

If he can't do that without dipping his head 2 feet, drop him off at a tennis court and wish him luck.

Fixing Charles...

Grip adjustment: neutral/weak left hand position with matching right hand (Hogan style).
Backswing:TSP with twist away. Learn how to rotate the whole flying wedge.

I wouldn't let him ground the club. He's a big re-gripper and re-grips the club to a closed position. It's pretty tough to re-grip a club when it doesn't have something to rest on.

Then, I'd get him in a fairway bunker to figure out where the bottom of his swing should be...

The grip adjustment will fix a lot of his maladies, but only if he doesn't ground the club. He won't have a reason to try and stop on the downswing. Nothing to adjust and I'm okay if he flips it for a while....

He had a STRONG grip and re-gripped it STRONGER!!! So shut, no wonder he stopped on the way down to try and adjust... no chance.
