Method teacher Haney really fixed Barkley

Anyone watch the show last night? I think it's really interesting that they've framed the entire show all of a sudden as "well we've worked a couple of his problems out, but significant improvement is going to take a long time." There should be some noticeable imrovement in ballstriking by now one would think, even if his scoring didn't indicate it.

I laughed out loud when

I believe Haney stated that he thinks Charles can hit good shots with the hitch in his swing. I am no expert, and that may be true, but then please tell me Hank why your entire focus seemed to be ridding Charles of the hitch?

Charles Barkley does it on purpose. He does it for the media attention it gives him. There is no way on earth someone does that except on purpose. He gets crowds that follow him to see his terrible stroke. He is a regular visitor on the golf channel. He probably gets paid for attending celebrity events...

Just absolutely priceless

Speaking of doing things for attention (which I and others will unfortunately give you), your post is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read on the internet, and that's saying something. What on earth possesses you to think that someone who is already in the limelight for a number of other achievements would subject himself to the ridicule of an entire nation simply for attention? Didn't you read what you typed before posting and think "Wait, this is ridiculous and everyone who reads it is going to think I either am functionally retarded or huff spray paint, or both"? I guess not. Be sure to go to one of those celebrity events and tell Chuck he's hamming it up for the crowd at the expense of his dignity and enjoyment of the game.

I should add that it's been a long day and I'm a big Barkley fan, but still, wow.

GPM, there are many people who are attention seekers. Going by the pajoritive tone, you obviously have attention problems, so ill bite and make your day but just understand that your happiness you get from reading my responce is going to short-lived and will be shortly and proportionately followed by low self-esteem as you wait for the next fix to lift your being. I would advise seeking professional help in this regard as you have deep rooted issues with a cycle of self abuse.

One of the things that show the human capacity in gaining attention is things like munchausen syndrome where the person creates symptoms of illnesses in themselves or their child/children in order to gain investigation, treatment, attention, sympathy, and comfort from medical personnel. There are cases where mothers/fathers have killed their children because they like attention and sympathy.

Now that we have mapped some extreme cases, its not such a ludicrious step that its possible that some low IQ, past it basketball player likes the limelight so much that when he retired and he was starting to vanish from the public eye, that he found he could get the attention on himself again through having a fugly golf stroke. You just have to think about Britney Spears and attention to see the lengths some people will go to.

Deadly, do a youtube video for Charles Barkley and you will find a fairly well known teacher who actually was able to get charles to hit very good shots at the range on video with little hitch. I don't know what his problem is but my guess is that it is very mental and he has an extreme problem of what many golfers have when they try to transfer their "Range game" to the course.

Charles Barkley is MUCH MORE FAMOUS now than he ever was as a basketball player.

He is mostly famous in the USA for his "off the cuff" style of basketball analysis.

He is also a very funny man, and pretty honest for a celebrity.

Deadly (Mathew), I know of people who do things for attention as you pointed out, but Charles like to gamble more than get the little bit more attention he gets from playing so bad with a hitch.

I don't know if I could fix him, but I bet my whole career that I would have gotten more done than Haney has.

:)

Barkley was hands down THE best athlete I've ever played against on the court. What he did at his size in the paint was amazing and has not been done since. Knowing his talent, raw athleticism, ruthlessness and pride, I can promise you he is not "faking" his problems. Guys cut from that cloth don't enjoy being clowned like that.

It would be great seeing what a better teacher could do with that level of ability (despite his current level of disrepair). At 6'4", he'd be well within the "normal" range of an orthodox pattern. Hopefully he'll get it sorted in time to dish out a little bit of what he's had to take over the past few years. He's as genuine as advertised.

His honesty is in his distorted mind. Some of his opinions are distorted. I agree I believe you would have made better progress than Haney, I believe I could have made progress with him than Haney. Jim Dunigan made better progress than what I have seen on the show. I never heard him discuss the right elbow and forearm pointing almost parallel to the ground.

the problem started like kevin said, someone told him to pause at the top. i heard him say this on some golf program a few years back. the problem now is that little voice in his head keeps telling him about his hitch, get rid of it, fix it, don't do it, people are talking about it, i can't play golf with this hitch, etc. etc. There's also all those voices outside his head telling him to hold his head up, etc.,etc. No wonder he can't fix it, it's because no one including himself will let him forget about it, so he can't get past it. It is in his head, no mechanic needed, self help needed! Like when someone told Jim Furyk i can get rid of that loop in your swing! To which Furyk replied what loop?

deserved to be HIT

OMG, when that video was starting I was like,

"Who in their right mind would be so close to Charles Barkley when he hits a golf ball?" That guy deserved to have been hit. What an idiot! Hell, any amateur can sometimes stray 1 off the tee. I would never position myself like that.

curtis......did someone hijack your computer or did you really say That guy deserved to have been hit.
.............so sad

The VERY first thing I thought when I watched the video, was 'what in the hell are these people thinking standing there'. It was a pro-am right?

Would you stand right on the edge of a narrow highway? The cars are going way slower than a golf ball off the tee, and in both cases it only takes a slight error to cause serious trouble.

The word on British TV is that Woods is set to sack Haney before the US Open.

I have heard in a newspaper that he wont officially sack haney but will stop having lessons from him like he did with butch, I still think he has overexagerated Haney's instruction look at his swing from 2nd half of 2006 which he struck the ball brilliantly, he is not as a flat and is hardly laid off at all.
