The sacred cows are falling like rain.

Ten finger grip? For women and kids only? I went out and tried it with the push/pull that Mike demonstrates. And then it clicked. This was the release. Amazing club head acceleration with only a short backswing. My stomach muscles were burning with the effort to hold on to that mother.

Thanks Mike.

Been using 10 finger grip all the time Ive been playing this game, carry over from baseball/softball, tried other golf grips but never felt comfortable using those grips, I think Im the only player in using 10 finger grip in the place I practice play.

It all makes sense HP when you think about it. Never played baseball seriously but now you mention it why would you do anything else?

I wonder how many on this forum use 10 fingers?

I just use ten finger cause that felt natural to me, when I was introduced to the various golf grips it seemed unnatural, I tried to get accustomed to the overlap grip the pro wanted me to use but I lost a lot of control, lenght and overall confidence in my swing even after 6 months, so I just went back to m ten finger, I still get some looks on the driving range and the 1st tee but Im used to it now

Funny thing about the ten finger grip. I messed around with it a few years back, and I could finally hit a draw ( I can't hit one if someone put a gun to my head ) The drawback was I lost some distance, which I can't afford to give up. I was a baseball player for years, so the grip didn't feel bad at all. May be time to look at it again...maybe under a trained eye I could use it and not lose distance.

I just talked to Mike and he said this video is SMIPLY an answer to someone ASKING ABOUT their particular experimentation with a 10-finger grip and their success with it.

Richard the Nerd! I'm sure many of us played baseball growing up and FWIW, I thought these baseball videos were great

"is silly an answer". What does this mean Brian? The video is a joke?

My interpretation: with 10 finger you can maximize rotation force about the coupling point. If this is true, not advocating the grip implies that there other drawbacks that make the grip problematic. What are the drawbacks?

Not a silly answer

The video is a discussion based on a forum member asking me about his recent success using a 10 finger grip, its a great explanation of torquing the club

Probaby meant "simply" not silly.

Just reviewed your latest post on your forum. I take it that the loons attacked you for advocating a split hand grip. Trolls looking for anything that can be misinterpreted to your disadvantage.

In any case, I like the ten finger. I found with the overlap I had trouble holding the club firm with the higher swing speeds I am getting with "The Release". Interlock was better but ten finger really solidified the right hand. I feel I can push/pull as hard I want (and I need to be careful because too hard and I hurt after).

Could be less freewheeling, no?

Interesting point Matt. Some thoughts:

Intuitively it makes sense but could this be a sensation only because the hand movements don't feel as locked together with an overlap?

I wonder what the biokinetics people have to say about the effect of different grips on the speed at which both wrists release.

These are just guesses, of course.
