More ammo for the golf announcer haters

One I can't stand, often from Ewen M on Sky UK:

"He's swinging the club BEAUTIFULLY".

WTF does that mean?

During a telecast from Pebble Beach Steve Melynk once said "Robert Louis Stevenson called this the most beautiful meeting of land and sky on the face of the earth. In some ways that's an understatement."
Name one Steve.

CBS Kostis is now obsoleted by D-plane. Maybe somebody should tell CBS that our Brian should be analyzing golf shots.

Pete K is old school. But age is no excuse for ignorance. I'm 63 and still try my level best every single day to stay on top of what's current, even after decades of teaching. But I'm not in the CBS booth, I'm actually being paid by people to help them improve. BIG difference...And I taught with some of the guys Peter started out with.

And you do your job well in a very nice locale/ facility my friend

Thank you my friend. Be sure to come by with Kevin this season. The three of us and ole Shivas Irons will "plum the depths of true gravity".

did i just see foley showing hunter the feeling of going normal on a small greenside pitch shot.. and player jr and whatever the other guys name is talking about sustaining the lag through the shot.... funny stuff.. on a side note they were showing tiger hittin some wedges and shorter irons and he was taking some nice shallow divots.

The other guy is Bill Kratzert. He had a pretty nice swing 30 years ago, for those of us old enough to remember. This show is one of the better ideas the Golf Channel has had in a while. If they got rid of Wayne Player and put some other guys in there it could be pretty good. How about Manzella, Butch, Haney, McLean, Ballard, Foley, Ledbetter, O'Grady Etc. Rotate them in.

If someone can explain what Foley is trying to do with Mahan they are much smarter than I am..........is he making this stuff up as he goes along?

Going off the air for 1/2 hour after showing us coverage for an hour and 1/2 is one of the stupidest ideas in sports coverage history. Just missed Phil's eagle on #6 while listening to Kelly and Brandy.

Interesting what Chamblee had to say about Tiger having to much forward lean. He mentioned that it looks good on camera, but really does not translate into playing golf. His comment was in reference to Tiger not being able to control his distance. He also said He never remembered any of the greats working on forward lean.

His inference was that they did not have forward shaft lean, a ridiculous claim. He sited Bobby Jones, who if I recall used hickory shafts? Then used the Hogan three right hands quote.

Hogan had lots of shaft lean. Its not the shaft lean thats the problem IMO.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with Chamblee, but thought that was a curious comment. Please, tell me what you think the problem is.

He has to back out of it with tons of shaft lean, that's a tough thing to deal with IMO.

Also you strip 3 days in Abu Dhabi. 3 days at Pebble, then crapola in the final round, not sure how his shaft lean is affecting his noggin.
