More hip slide and less beer.

Thanks lookingtolearn. Would the shaft move if I did that? I you pose the top of the swing do you feel alot of weight on the rear leg, with the rear hip feeling on top of the foot?

The shaft shouldn't move if you keep the angle. Just give yourself a few inches between the shaft and your body. Then you can think "slide" all you want in the backswing, and if you hit the shaft, you'll know you overdid it.

At the top of the swing, just make sure you can pick up the left foot but not hold it there.

While feel is very individual, it sounds like your feel makes sense for what you are trying to do.

At my lesson Brian mentioned the slide and steeper shoulder turn, should have mentioned that specifically. If I think about the steeper shoulder turn it doesn't seem to help, I still turn flat and overturn AND I don't feel the resistance you mentioned. Playing around with this in my livingroom I feel a resistance or a coiling feeling in my right hip, without too much turn. Is this what you mean? Anyone else want to confirm? Thanks.

I'm not sure, lol. You'd have to ask Brian exactly what he meant by "resistance." I was just trying to give you a way to measure if you overdid a feel (hip slide in BS) or not.

You may just want to keep trying to overdo the NHA2 feels and drills until you see yourself actually doing it on video.

One other question--Did Brian have you try a delayed hip turn? Sometimes it helps people with your problems.

Delayed hip turn? slide alot then turn? He showed me what to do and talked it out while showing me, then I'd pose it and he'd correct me and then I'd hit some for him. In all honesty we didn't have a whole lot of time to do this and it was a HUGE feel change for me. I then started cramping from dehydration and we couldn't do much after that. This was my second time with Brian. I'm kind of a slow learner when I'm there and then I go home and think about the lesson alot and I lose my feel. I think I'm one of those that benefit from drills and seeing it on video. I'm a big visual learner. I'll try to do the overdo feel and put it on video alot and see if that helps. Thanks for helping out. I appreciate it.
