Great question, sincerely. And I'm not at all saying these systems are useless. I just think they are being over-sold/hyped. That's the nature of innovation (in golf) :)

I just disagree with many of these statements.

I always believe that you can make the best decisions when you have as much information as possible. Now its a seperate argument about the validity of the data but too much information, don't buy that.

If you are saying that a teacher may not know what to do, or how to interpret the information, and then implement that with a student then again that's a different subject.

Give me the information and I will make my own decisions, or in the case of the teacher put the trust in their ability.
What do you think about all the information in your credit card agreement or the promissory note on your home mortgage?

And what do you understand and retain other than I don't want to carry a balance that continually accrues interest and keeps loading me up with debt?

A big picture understanding is almost always the only need for most. Variations on the general theme are the product of playing experience/experimentation. Great game.

And all I'm saying Brian is that these modalities give you additional information. Nothing more or less. As you freely admit in the video there's still a large amount of trial and error (overdoing ideas, experimentation). This isn't a panacea. Agreed?

You can not see WHERE a segment (pelvis, torso, left arm, club) reaches peak speed unless you have 6dof3D.

Period.

Teaching is a separate subject.

Do you walk to work or drive a car to work? They walk in Hawaii. We utilize technology to move faster and with more efficiency. They stare at the horizon and state with absolutely certainty the earth is flat. Brian sends a satellite into space and shows it's round. Since they only want to believe what they can see, they want everyone else to follow their limited sight.

These are tools and will not single handedly change someone without proper instruction and understanding. Any idiot can look at a picture and guess. Voldemort is still tied in knots at one site trying to describe what's driving and what's holding. He can't do it because the grand poo bah can't explain it in any workable detail and just describes looks, not connected actions.

I don't waste too much time reading into these threads, but as a young man I too well know the "fear" that is in the "establishment" when it comes to analytics. Whether it is challenging archaic salesmen "salesy" notions that i statistical prove as wrong in the corporate finance world, sabermetricians in MLB, footballoutsiders/profootballfocus in the NFL, or radar/3d in golf.

PEOPLE RESIST CHANGE AND PROGRESSION, they just do; generally it is out of fear and the unknown.

The reality is that with all the radar/3d/math/etc it still doesn't take away the accomplishments of the so called savants, it only proves how special they were without all this progression. But you simply cannot deny the fact that all of the above are advancing their respective sports at an exponential rate and i'd hate to be the person who got left off the bus.

Brian,

I am ecstatic to see that 1:30 into that video, you advocate turning the hips and tush well behind the tush line.

Hooray! That one gets ten Lifter thumbs up. Glad we're on the same page there.

I have one little comment to add, though. I think you'd agree that if the golfer allows his left heel to come off the ground and kicks his left knee in, then that greatly increases his ability to turn his hips behind the tush line.

This might not apply to Lindsay specifically because she's a young female and might be very flexible. But for those of us at home who aren't nearly as flexible (like me) lifting the left heel and kicking in the left knee might really help a lot.

We recently purchased a KVest motion sensor - nearly every player tested turned their hips in the backswing a good deal
more than the pro parameters, including myself. I have taught for years a hefty pivot going back, especially for people who
swing left. I will say the quality of the strike has changed for me, easier to toss the drunk coming down. But I am reluctant tochange the way I teach because these folks are not tour players.

Great video by Mike Jacobs with Tony Morgan on KVest/Flightscope dynamic in teaching on Mikes site.

Ed,

Over rotation is a huge problem with golfers - even club pros. Club velocity and Torso velocity on the takeaway along with ground reaction force understanding eliminates the over rotation immediately. I have a new product coming out by Friday that covers all of this, you will love it

Thanks a million Mike. We use the Leaderboard, an Australian training aid, as a low tech groundforce teaching tool. Will the new product be posted on your site?

Michael,

In general, what is/are the effect(s)/result(s) of over-rotation? What drill(s)/thought(s) would you suggest for someone who does not have access to the some of the tools available? [On the flip side - What about under-rotation?]

I purchased the iPhone app Golf MTRx and the numbers average mid- to high 40* at the Top, with an occasional mid-50* reading. Now, I realize using this tool may not be the best, but it's what I have at the moment.
