Open Clubface

If on your backswing you open the clubface 30 degrees, how hard is it to get it back to square?

Does this make it harder to play this way?

30 degrees open is not really that open at all. If you can't hook/draw it from that position at the top, I suggest you find something else to fix, rather than trying to get it even less open (i.e. more closed). Given your Neutral grip, your left wrist should be pretty arched already.

Ideally, once you have ingrained the twistaway move and the NSA pattern, you should move back to a 70-90 degrees open clubface position at the top.

To shallow out your angle of attack, you should try "swinging under the stick".

Could you clarify what you mean by this? I'm not sure what a 70-90 degree open clubface looks like.

If the clubface is @ 0 degrees at address................

It will be about 90 open at the top. "Toe pointing at the target." (this would be very orthodox)

...

In other words.....Superman is flying above you...............he sees you are standing on a clock. At address your clubface is at 12 o'clock. Top it is at 3 o'clock. Or at least this would be very orthodox.

if the clubface is approx 30 degrees open like you said, the leading edge of the clubface would be pointing at the sky (parallel to the ground) at the top of your backswing.
