OT: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR '12 - The Masters

Can someone give me a putting lesson? I shot 92 (52-40) at Augusta National yesterday, and I'm not very happy about it. Who 7-putts? I'm not joking - I need putting tips.

As an aside, this video game is a ton of fun. I played on "tournament mode," which makes it play more like real golf without all of the power boosting, spinning the ball while it's in the air, etc. I enjoyed some of the nuances like seeing the shots from the player's actual view. Blind shots are blind shots. The camera doesn't follow the ball in the air, it just leaves you staring at the undulating fairway in front of you. It takes a little getting used to, but it's certainly more realistic and gives you a better feel for the real Augusta. You can tell that the micro-managers at The Masters certainly had their hands in creating the game - the only thing missing is the pimento cheese sandwiches.

Watch the slope of the green and adjust accordingly. It was hard to putt and it is a source for frustration. I putt the best when I have a good rhythm. The game is really good. I think it will be hard to shoot the really low scores like games in the past. My low score was 39 on easy.

Unless you have the imagination to putt greens of this ilk you need the experience. Trust me, I putt the most rediculously hard greens every Sunday for fun. Ask the "Man" about the greens.

Ryan, which version do you have, XBOX, Wii or PS3? Did you have a previous version and is it worth the money to upgrade from TW 2010?

This is my first TW game experience. I had to keep pausing the toonament to go back to the pro shop. I was running out of gloves to sign and give away after hitting "patrons". Grapes got busted.

Having played the real course, this is an exact replica. What hits you is how wide open many holes are and does not look that hard till you get to putt those greens! SO the game being hard to putt is the same as the course. My 4 putt on the real 14th still makes me lol!

Define small? What age? Most PS3/XBOX games have complicated controls but as usual most young kids will embarrass you with their ability to learn and adapt.

5 and 9, and it's a wii so not too many buttons.

My son plays all the time and he is 7, started playing when he was 5. Its actually rather simple, understanding some more advanced golf game play takes a little experience for him but he regularly can whip me now.

Augusta's green speed really threw him for a loop when he putted off the front of the green on 1.

80 my first round (used tournament mode, no manual spin, precision, putting, etc.), with an 11 on #12. Dumped the tee shot into Rae's Creek, then blasted 4 "partial" wedges long OB.

Putting is pretty tough in that mode.
