Qualified to teach???

How do you judge if the information you are receiving on the golf swing is valid or strictly bologna. I think the easiest way is to ask a few questions.
Are you getting better?
Is the info you've been given come from a credible source?
Are they an AI or have they received some other form of accreditation?
Have they had any students that have had success? And by succes I'm not talking about tour level. I mean dropped several strokes off their handicap, become a capable ball striker.
Can they back up what they are saying? And I mean apple for apple orange for orange, if you are twisting something to meet your own agenda no one can possibly debate you on it. You are simply not talking about the same thing.

I think it is wonderful that we can have meaningful debate and interaction about the golf swing, but when you have a known commodity, years of experience years of sucess, true in both brian and yoda's case. You should not maliciously attack everything that they say. The burden of proof is not on them. I am got going to sabotage someone elses thread to make my point if I have something so important to say I'll make my own post about it. have you noticed that any thread started by certain people unless someone wants to pick a fight is unresponded to where other threads get turned into war zones. I shouldn't have to weed thru pages of crap just to find the one good morsel that has been put in there by someone who has a clue.

I asked this question before and it was ignored, what kind of game do our internet gurus have. I've seen brian's name in US open qualifying reports so you know he's got some game. I've not seen holenone hit the ball but there are several here you have and the reports are impressive, so if you want to spout off, and I mean anyone, throw your credentials up here show you you got a little game.

The preceding is intellectual property of yours truly any use of it in a quote of other thread is strictly prohibited.

I know many of you are aware of the thread "DukeNasty Meets Yoda In Atlanta" over at GEA (Swing Instruction/Tips - DukeNasty meets Yoda in Atlanta!!!). I know for the simple reason that you Private Messaged me and told me about this thread! I'm putting this up, not as a personal promotion but as the evidence bsbsbs has requested. If you want to read the entire thread -- it's good stuff -- the site is www.4GEA.com. You'll have to register, but it's simple and free.

For those of you pressed for time, here is my student's initial post (teaching ability), a selected subsequent follow-up (ball striking ability) and a third from the PGA teaching professional mentioned in the original post who endorses both.

DukeNasty's Initial Post

"Many people sent me personal emails asking for a review of my day with Yoda so here goes. First let me start this by saying that my views of the golfswing for the most part are forever changed. At the beginning of the day, i needed help because lately I have become a tangled mess. After 4 hours with Yoda, I was carrying the ball from the far end of the driving range to the top of the roof of the workshed at the Marietta Golf Center in Atlanta. Since many of you don't live here, THAT IS MINIMUM 280-290 YARDS OF CARRY. THAT'S RIGHT...CARRY. NO BS!! Yoda is by far the best teacher in the world. No kidding. Furthermore, I have bridged the gap between a body controlled pivot and a hands controlled pivot! How ya like that!!!

I am so excited, I really don't know where to start. Yoda and I spoke by phone and I told him that I thought most golf instruction is BS because most instructors don't allow you to be athletic and goof balls like Jim Flick use ridiculous terminology like the "golf instrument" is controlled by the hands, yet he has his most prized student (the young stick figure called Phillip) doing body control drills like the baseball step and swing drill. Body based instructors like Leadbetter and the like talk about holding the lag with the hands but all of his instruction is based on the use of the body. Go figure.

Yoda and I started out with a conceptual understanding over breakfeast (pancakes at the Cracker Barrel are absolutely delicious) because I told him that this was critical for me and that I wanted to know why I was playing good and why I played bad. During our time togther, he gave me the understanding of the swing and so much more. By the way, all of his teaching is based on The Golfing Machine and you won't believe how simple it is. Yoda explains it to you and the golf ball forever becomes your puppet. You can make it do whatever you want.

The head instructor at the Marietta Golf Center was taught by Yoda and he hit about 4 or 5 drives with absolutely no warmup whatsoever as straight and pure as the driven snow. I could have stood at the 280yd marker with a baseball glove and caught every single one of his tee shots without moving one inch. They were that pure.

The right side of my body is in complete control of my swing and I can completely unleash my athleticism into the ball. My right forearm starts on plane and I don't have to worry about dropping the club in the slot. I now gather the ball off of the tee and completely smash it down the fairway. All unnecessary motions of my body have been completely minimized and I can place my "heavy club head" onto the ball. I still have work to do for sure, but I feel so ridiculously empowered when standing over the ball. The flight of the ball now belongs to me. The fog has been lifted!!! -- E."

Excerpt From A Subsequent DukeNasty Post:

"Speaking of distance, Yoda is 58 years old and I have seen him drive the ball. Talk about compressing the ball?! He relentlessly pounded the ball and I bet you he outdrives 99% of the folks hear at GEA and his tee shot is basically a laser straight arrow that seemed to always find the shortgrass. Once he blessed me with the straight dope, I literally gave him a hug after I pounded drive after drive into oblivion. It was truely a phenomenal experience. One I will never forget. -- E."

PGA Teaching Professional's Post In The Thread:

"I'm the instructor at Marietta Golf Center that was kindly mentioned in his recent post. I wasn't able to do those things with the golf ball until I met Yoda. I'm a PGA Member and have been teaching for ten years. The Golfing Machine is the golfing Bible. (I once was lost but now I'm found.)

I will attest to the fact that Yoda is the finest insructor that presently walks the planet. Yoda spent time with the previous #1, Homer Kelly, and recieved most of his professional training from him. I am also a teacher that has been blessed with great success, but had never witnessed such knowledge until Yoda. His knowledge of the Golfing Machine is unmatched by anyone that I've encountered. As in Dukenasty's case, I had a similar understanding of the golf swing until the "TRUTHS" of the Golfing Machine were given to me.

The Golfing Machine can be as difficult or as simple as you like. That's the beauty of it. From an instructor's point of view, we have to cater to a student's learning style. Sometimes we use different words or explanations to illustrate the same principle, but the truths are found in "The Book."

I will continue to seek the knowledge that Yoda has attained. There are always two, a Master and an Apprentice. If Yoda lives another 100 years, I'll stay his apprentice. -- Luke"

Good - no, great - stuff. And you actually don't have to register to read that thread. I found it available without registering and it's a good read.

Thank you very much holenone (yoda, lynn). You have more than proved yourself. Not that you needed to as I had already read that thread and many other complimentary things about you. You are actually the closest AI to me (4hrs) and I would absolutely love at some point (when there is time and money) to get the opportunity to have the fog lifted for myself. The amount that I have benefited from what I have read from both Brian and you (here and on chuck's site) has made a huge improvement in my game (a 4 and dropping). And I have still not (should I know) gotten a copy of the yellow book, mainly cause I'm afraid i might confuse myself with too much info (it's been done before mind you it was the wrong info)

Anyway thanks again to you and Brian for all that you contribute to this site. And no I'm not drinking the kool aid, it's simply a matter of it's right don't mess with it. How do you know it's right? Because it WORKS.

No doubts here about your abilities. But if I could submit one small request... when can we see a holenone swing (or should I say Hitting) sequence clip? :)

We're putting out some stuff having to do with the Martee Makeover Challenge on Chuck's site. I'll see how much effort it would take to get a clip up.
