i'm not sure how to expand, your shoulder turn is very flat meaning after your backswing is done your left shoulder and right shoulder are very "level." I am trying to ask if you ever tried a swing where your shoulders turned steeper, meaning your left shoulder points more at your right shoe instead of out into the distance. Hard to type out an explanation

I think Trickyric's question may be more about the difference between a steeper shoulder turn and a steeper swing.

New
All I can say is when I experimented with a steeper shoulder turn as Brian described in a recent video I was shocked at how down and out my left shoulder felt. (I am a lefty)
I was also shocked at how good the shots I was hitting were. Give the steeper shoulder turn a try. Also I am 5' 8" tall. (seems odd to say Tall after 5' 8")

I tried it today and had some good results, it feels wierd like I am getting more over the ball it took a bit to coordinate the proper sequence on the downswing though when i got it I hit some very solid shots. I need to get it on video.

It is a very different feeling; generally for a better player it will "feel" kinda reverse pivoty even though it isn't

Jim,
I went out today and worked on it some more. it felt really odd to get my left shoulder going "down", but as long as I maintained the tilt I really seemed to compress the ball.
I tried to get video but my "camera Man" must have been drunk or high because he stopped in the middle of every swing:D
thanks,
Ric

Admittedly, it will feel very odd to you. "Keeping your tilt" is the feeling of not allowing the body to move so far to the right in the swing and helps avoid "swaying" off the ball. It's going to feel a lot more "centered" to you but if you get video you'll see that it looks ok just not as much of a lean to the right but still leaned if that makes sense.

I too went through a similar shoulder turn change and it was odd so i know what you're feeling. It comes easier with time IF you choose to stay with it.

Helped my Chipping

...I received similar feedback a few months ago when I posted a swing vid. When trying to implement the new move, I definitely had the sensation that I was "reverse pivoting" as Jim suggests you might feel.

The thought of a steeper shoulder turn has greatly improved my chipping. I was always hitting everything on the toe of the club with clunky contact until I made this switch. Now the little grass marks are generally in the middle of the club. The feelings described in post #4 of this thread help:

I am a good player trying to get better. I am a very good chipper, no problems there but on full shots when I go bad it has always been slightly fat shots, not chunks but rather just enough to ruin the shot. I am hoping that this change will correct that. I have learned so much over the last year and a half after being exposed to TGM and then meeting Brian and Michael Jacobs and getting on this forum. It is so refreshing to know that the information you get here comes from very informed sources.
I am actually going to spend 3 days with the Bmanz and MJ in a couple of weeks and I am hoping that I have worked on this change enough to effectively preform it when I am with them.

this what I am talking about!

that is Alan Morin, he has conditional status on the Nationwide tour and has been the best player in the south Florida section for at least a decade.

I like it!

Hey trickyric67, could you post up a face on view of Alan's driver swing? I'm curious to see the difference between the irons and the driver.

From what I remember Alan always had a slow, underturned backswing, early head swivel and tons of axis tilt with major trigger delay. Not very long but strikes it very well and consistent.
