Right Hand coming loose at top of BS

The 10 finger grip allows me to use my right arm/ hand more, and allows me to push my right hand directly into my left hand. It also doesn't feel as flimsy as the two standard methods of gripping a golf club.

Why not try larger grips? I plan on regripping with the same large untapered grips that the Single Axis guys use.

I may have to try the larger grips as well, or at least eliminate the taper in the grip. I wonder if having grips the size that I may end up with would affect the performance characteristics of the club (shaft flex, swing weight, overall weight)? Who knows...

will,
my driver came with a paralell grip on it....it feels very nice (and it doesn't seem to affect draw or fade) in the hands and apparently a lot of pros have their grips built up under the right hand too....

The guy i first learned this from (ex touring pro) was originally put on a machine which measured grip pressure, and with the taper grip, at the top he was gripping much firmer with his right hand.....with no other change than the parallel grip, his grip pressure reduced, both hands having roughly the same pressure, which must be a good thing...

There is a long round putter grip used on the long putters that is not tapered and larger than stander grips. Give it a try. It works great for the 8 finger 2 thumb baseball grip. You can use it for the Vardon and interlock as well.

He shouldn't need to do that GH, the one on my driver is a Golf Pride Softie...
All he needs to do is ask the grip fitter to build up the shaft (with tape) before he fits the grip..

I dont know why people have such a problem with the interlocking grip... I used that from little on, and it always felt much better than the 10 finger grip, I have zero controll with a 10 finger grip... I use the vardon grip now, and I have only been using this in the past 2 years, but by far... I have the most controll with this grip.

watch some old clips of Bobby Jones, and the grip... even he was against the "baseball grip".

df,
I tried the interlocking a while back...I found it painful TBH....lots of rubbing and pressures on the four fingers and joints involved...

I have to say that the tip Brian gives in this thread is great. I have found that I too like flyers66 have found that my right hand pulls off the grip increasing a flying elbow thus creating inconsistent results. Letting go with right hand and then placing it on more solidly (covers my L thumb better, looking weaker ).Then I readdress the ball. Good drill. Hands stay connected longer through the shot and I don't slice as much. I always noticed my R hand sliding off and found to be in a stronger position post impact with slices before. Thanks, guys.

I've tried all of those retarded grips... My father was a Nicklaus fan, wanted me to call myself the brown bear, and taught me Nicklaus's interlocking grip as a kid... I played poor golf with that grip, then I tried the Vardon, and it didn't feel natural either. My solution is a long left thumb, and a right hand grip where all four fingers are on the grip. I hit the ball pretty now!!! High long draw.

I have girly hands so I need interlocking.

Baseball grip worked OK for Moe.

i have a small hands..and it gets me in trouble. I tried to interlock grip, was shanking it all day. Vardon grip works good for me, but from time to time when I'm tired my right pink comes off the left hand and it's game over.

So i don't really know what to do.

Why don't you try a double overlap grip? I found that has also helped me. Also be careful to get your right thumb over the left thumb properly and hit shots with a penny in between to ensure you are maintaining that #1 pressure point.

This thread got bumped at a very serendipitous time for me.

I'm having big troubles with my right hand disconnecting with the grip near the top of the backswing. Efforts to concentrate on maintaining that grip have turned into weight shifting backward and a case of the fats.

I've used an 8/2 grip for the past few years and have tinkered with Overlap and Interlock but found both of those to be uncomfortable at address and painful at contact.

I'm going to try Brian's drill at the range this evening and check into some parallel grips.

can you explain #1 pressuer point?

Right hand grip

"There is also a separation of the heal pad of the right hand off the left thumb during all good golf swings. It might be a small amount but it is present."

This is the feeling I get with my right hand when I'm swinging...but you are saying that's okay??
