In executing both swivel and roll, is focusing on the "right" palm turning down and ok way to go, rather than, the left arm rolling (or catching rain drops)???

In my lesson with Brian he said he didn't care as long as you roll.

I was having trouble thinking right arm pickup then left arm roll on the way down. I wanted to keep it on one side.

My only warning is that using the right hand like that may lead to left wrist breakdown.

In my lesson with Brian, he told me that one of the images he used with David Toms was this. Imagine you are dribbling a basketball with your right hand against a wall behind you. (in backswing position) Then dribble the basketball through space down to the ball position and beyond. (paraphrased, and probably not well) This didn't really click with me at the time, but later when I was practicing at home, it came to mind and really helped me with the feel of getting roll. I haven't noticed this leading to left wrist breakdown.

Yup...that can be an issue.

Keep practicing pitch and punch shots with a full roll and monitor your flat left wrist. You should be able to come to an abbreviated follow through and check your left wrist. If it is flat, then it was at impact. If it is bent, it probably was at impact.

So use the right if you want to but just monitor it for a bit and make sure you can avoid the left wrist breakdown and if so, then move up to full shots.
