Nick Faldo doesn't think it's a good idea.

McIlroy has already filmed his first Nike TV commercial

Report: Rory McIlroy signs $200M deal with Nike - News | FOX Sports on MSN

In a deal reportedly worth at least $200 million, Nike has made the world's No. 1 golfer Rory McIlroy its biggest star.

Although no one involved would officially confirm the signing, FOXSports.com has learned that McIlroy has already filmed his first Nike television commercial, to debut next year.

The personable young Northern Irishman appears in the ad alongside the man who helped recruit him to Nike, Tiger Woods.

The two banter while hitting the company’s new red driver and marvel at how far they’re hitting the ball.

The commercial also features two other long-hitting golfers, Nick Watney and Kyle Stanley, who have also made the switch to Nike as the company beefs up what has been a disappointing roster.

McIlroy, who had used Titleist clubs and balls in his five years as a professional, has signed a 10-year deal with the Oregon-based sports giant.

The deal – which could net as much as $250 million – makes him Nike’s highest-paid golfer, replacing Woods.

It’s believed that Woods once earned $35 million a year from Nike, but took a hefty paycut after his marital infidelities became public in 2009.

I see my account is still alive...well...there are no true sportsmen any more, only whores. Who pays more they will come. They're empty inside. If I were a tour winner I'd use local brand for FREE. If no local brand -- the clubs that I like the best.

Cheers

Dariusz, this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen you write. Lot of people on this thread who think they're smarter than Rory. And they probably aren't.

I am not wiser than him either. But I live long enough to see that money isn't everything. There are things one can't buy, there are things one can feel great while give or not earn money.

Ya, you'd turn down $200 million to play golf using nike gear....

Yes, because I am rich enough to do such a thing in my soul. History remembers such events, not some donates to save one's incoms. He's rich enough to do it.

Cheers

Money doesn't matter if it's not a good fit. Now if Scotts offered Rory $200 million, I bet Dariusz would be singing a different story... :)

Well...tell me a Scottish company producing good equipment and able to pay 200 million. The trick is to do something DIFFERENT, like to buy Hogan brand from these Callaway nerds and revitalize it. Spare yourself your usual dumb commentaries about Hogan, BTW. It might be McGregor as well.

"Feed your thick Polish rough", "FEED IT!"

Nothing to feed here. We had snow last week, now the last tourney we shall play in the swamp because the temperature rose to 10 centigrades. But we continuously sympathize with fellow American golfers who unfortunately are foced play a golf-like game in carts and roughless fields and do not know how true game looks like.

Cheers

I can't agree with you more as far as someone really bringing back Hogan and McGregor to higher end status. That would be righteous. But I'll pass on the Polish rough. Our irrigated heather lined courses are penal enough for me.

Let's forget being vicious then. I am in a peaceful mode. But why bringing back history is not en vogue ? Imagine McIlroy revitalizes and owns the brand and wins next season. It would be much better than being between some Titleist and Nike or another OEM. He should be the trend, not OEMs. Remember when Hogan wrote his letter to fellow pros -- it was something.

Have a good night.

Dariusz, we are all whores are we not? It's just that some whores get paid more for their whoring than others.

Haven't read the whole thread but could someone "in the know" hazard to guess what a viable 2nd best offer could be?
I mean...are we talking 200-250 mil vs 50-60 mil??? If so, end of discussion. Also, if Rory stays on a similar track, how much do you think he will sign for when he is 32 with a few more majors under his belt? We are talking billionaire territory here.

Yes, but to some extent. Sometimes a whore is more reasonable than others, but (s)he is a whore anyhow. I can understand Nelson being a whore to buy his dream farm more than a kid trying to juggle millions with his lawyers. Call me old-fashioned prick.

Good nite.
