You've got the players, their just not performing. They play like the fate of the worlds on their shoulders. They need to loosen up a bit and actually talk to their playing partners. Your team seems full of really grim faces.

Give me the top 12 Junior Players in the U.S. and we would have won more holes today than the U.S. did....

NBC Sports, Please get rid of Johnny Miller...

Sergio, you're the man...

Mr. Lehman, no matter how many million people blame our poor performance on team morale, pairings, and captain's picks...don't listen...we played terrible golf...Period.

The U.S. team plays like they are trying to grind out pars and not make any big mistakes, the way they play majors in general. They need to play more carefree and agressive. Birdies have to be made like Zach Johnson did today. It doesn't matter if you lose a hole by 1 or 5 shots, it is still a loss, but to win a match you have to win holes. Pars aren't going to get it done. One of the reasons I don't like the Masters tournament as much any more, is because the course changes have turned it into a glorified U.S. Open. The U.S. team isn't even fun to watch.

i think the real reason is that there strategy is no good in foursomes you have one guy play consefvative and let the other guy fire at flags and you arange the pairings that way. then in alternate shot you get two guys with similar games. I just dont see the players working as a team one guy sacrificing so the other could fire away

friendship is the key

just beeing proud of our guys !
Donald / Garcia ...... wow how they stick together,
beeing watched by Darren smoking cigar and another
two mulligan cigars in his hands.
Golf is more than just hitting balls !!!!!!!
........ thats why the stallion is unique... he carries
his roots in his heart.

So far, Both teams look similar tee to green, but the Euro have made the Putts. Hmmmmm... that's Golf! Like evey other tournament the winner is the one who gets the ball in the hole! No Sh*t! :D
If the US team start making the putts it could be very interesting today.
With Euros ahead by quite a way you would expect some kind of come back anyway, the pressure is off the US and on the Euros now.

Any possibility that the Nationwide Tour or the LPGA represent the USA at the next Ryder Cup...certainly something has to change...maybe the USA should just concede the next one now and save everyone lots of time and grief.

I felt Woods, Furyk, Mickleson and DiMarco needed to play their best and generally they didn't. On paper the Euros had a stronger team to be fair and just outplayed the Americans.
Interesting comment by Toms, he said the course was soft and wet and the US team probably weren't long enough off the tee. Good point. They were outdriven on most holes.

It's really quite simple

When it comes to matchplay (team or single):

These guys are good:

Those guys are better:

Let the euro's have the ryder cup and we'll take down the majors.

I wonder whether this would still be the case if 3 out of the 4 majors werent played on US soil

Has/Would Phil win outside the US? I doubt it

Tiger of course has and will continue to do so

Well, we will see in the american express championship at the grove this week. Ok it isnt a major but the field is as strong as any major.

Europe just have more talent.

I think the MAJOR difference between the two squads is emotion. If you saw Olazabal with his caddy following play then Ollie with Darren Clarke, that emotion is intangible and integral to the Euros. I dont know if any American players are that passionate.

I second that. I watched today as Darren Clarke, up 2 or 3 holes at the time choose a putter from maybe 6 ft off the green with about 75 ft to the hole. Miller and the other moron immediately questioned the choice and Clarke subsequently holed the shot.

Why cant Miller and others concede when they pull a boner like that? I guess only real people do that, not self important talking heads like Miller.

I was watching a tournament one time where Miller incorrectly called the break on a put. He claimed the guy put "cut spin" on it to cause it to go the other way. BTW, do we really need the announcer reading the puts ? We'll see how it breaks after the player hits it.

Now that is hilarious!

I didn't think Clarke would get it within 10 feet with a putter with that long of grass between him and the green, shows what I know!

Did u guys hear Oosterhuis on TGC?

He was talkin about the lack of good American players comin up on the PGA....vs. the young foreign players.

It's true.....the guys under 30 have not done much.

He talked about Tiger changing things.....and how maybe a lot of the players have accpeted him as #1 rather than gunning for him.....cause they make such a good living even making cuts and playing decent.

I can't know how much it's true...

But I do know a lot of guys seem to be scared of Tiger....and not a lot of em seem to be really really gunning for him.
