Seems my setup is ok..I have a tendency to deaccel. I don't make enough of the midrangers (8-12 feet) I don't 3 putt often and the 3 footers don't bother me. Any tips on the 10 footers?

With the md range putts(8-20 feet), your speed needs to be great at the hole and very consistent, and your visualisation skills start to become more of a factor. See the last 3-4 feet into the cup, and then work from there.

Speed first though!

Thanks Damon I tried this and it seems that I might a little shorter and more upright putter! Anyway, do you have any data/thoughts on the different types of heads, hosel locations, etc. and they're advantages/disadvantages? Or is all whatever you feel comfortable looking at?

If you are comfortable looking at it and you aim poorly, you should probably do something about it. Bad habits are comfortable, you know.

I do not personally have much data on how geometry affects aim. Another forum member does, but can't divulge too much due to potential patent infringements.

I try to work on posture and eye position first, then maybe work on the geometry a bit. Generally simpler is better. Some of the big MOI heads with various allignment aids tend to visually distract. Remember that you're trying to cultivate a relationship between the intended line and your putter face. Anything that helps that cause is in..... hurts, is out!

Someone teach me how to stop reading too much break into every putt.

I had my first round in a few months. Thank the Lord for knowing how to chip because I putted so so, and pitched the ball like a 30 handicap.

Someone teach me how to pitch from tight lies onto rock hard greens.

I heard Tiger reads every break perfectly :D

I've actually been lag putting lately by setting up and then looking at the hole when making my stroke, as opposed to looking at the ball. I've been pleasantly surprised, how my lag putting has improved, and I'm actually leaving the ball long as opposed to coming up short. I still look at the ball on the shorter putts where distance and feel isn't as much of an issue.

Might be worth a try.

Hehe. Bah! Ya last time he came he drove it in the bush (we have bush up here) to lose his last match of The President's Cup.

Hehe right back atcha. ;) All in good fun.

Now Birdie.... we call that President's match thing "throwing someone a bone" here in the states. ;)

Makes sense...do you have any practice drills/routines that may help?
Also..what is the best way to check your alignment?

Thanks

Big Red Thumbs Down......big TIME.

lol.........

NO way he threw that match.

What happened to all the "He wants to rip your heart out and step on your throat every time" hooplah...?

Y'all can't have it both ways you know.

There is no way he fought that whole match and then just threw it on the last hole.

Maybe he couldn't put up with the mosquitoes.....

You have to agree that Weir beating Tiger HU is probably his biggest achievement in golf. Master's Blaster...

I'm going to offer my putting challenge to LO-CHO as well, and take her Peso's.

Just kidding.... I don't think he'll even let Sam win anything they play!

Putt one ball away an unspecified distance, then bump that ball with a second putt,
Put a tee near the edge of a cup(high side), then putt a ball such that it bumps the tee into the cup,

Get someone to monitor your alignment when you are in your set up position,

Also, which part of you do you feel that you have trouble aligning?

I really struggle with the shoulders..I feel like I've got too many lines crossing
each other(feet, his, shoulders)...just can't get comfortable.

Don't worry too much about hips, knees and feet.
The important thing is to get the shoulders square or as close to square as possible.
You have to build a parallel relationship between the aim line, and your eye line, and a perpendicular relationship to a line between your chin and throat or sternum, and the aim line. From there, as long as you haven't got a real funky grip which gets the hands(and consequently your shoulders) into a non opposing position, your shoulders should be pretty square.

But if you need to have a closed or open stance, or a different feel in your hips, so be it.

Thanks...makes sense..I like the perpendicular reference...seen some really good putters very open with stance but now that you mention it..sternum is perpendicular. Been working with simplification of the triangle and rocking the shoulders "up" the line....thoughts?
